if its for 1.1, it will run the 1.2, but rough as shte. It might not help you atall.
says who..anyway, you're wrong.
When i emailed him, im sure he said he did them for the 1108 and the 1242 but not 1.2 SPI which is a bit upsetting lol
you mean the 1.2 (1242) MPI not SPI don't you? Cos the chips works on both 1108 and 1242 SPI engines.
BUT some ECU's need to be broken into and others just unscrew. The ones that need broken into are sealed units and are soldered, so all you need to do it unsolder to get it out, but others just dis-assemble or similar and clip into place.
The ECU's on the mk1 SPI cars (and the punto75 actually) are all similar looking. None of them that ive seen are screwed together. To open them, you cut the seal on the bottom and prise the baseplate out. Its very easy.
I've no idea though which Punto ECU's are soldered and which aren't. Can pretty much figure it out for centos, but not puntos.
Ok, now onto actually using the chip in a punto60. I have a mckrich chip in my cinq, and have done for ages - but a spare ECU that i bought had what i think was a clone of a cinq novitec chip in it. I ran that ECU in my car to compare to the mckrich chip - not long after that i took the chip out and went back to mckcrich chip. I leant the 'novitec' chip to gex who ran the chip in his 1242 sei, it worked pretty well - but did have a slight hesitation issue. He bought himself a mckcrich chip and i got the novitec back.
Whats this got to do with things ur wondering. Once i had the chip back, in my spare ECU i tested it out on my flatmates 1242 punto60. It worked fine. Car was quicker, more responsive. It was only a short test (25mile or so) but i just wanted to see if it worked, and it did.
So by my reckoning, mckrich chip should work - seeing as though a cinq novitec clone chip works in 1242 punto60.
