Just saw this on CBS reality a few minutes ago. (Mrs J is watching Judge Judy - sigh) brought a wee smile to my face and memories of my youngest lad learning to drive with his MK1 (in fact the purple one in my avatar picture) which he quite quickly ditched when he could afford a rather battered, but more "street cred worthy" Escort. We were still running the Panda long after I'm sure the Escort had gone to meet it's maker. I wonder if they specifically looked for one in that insipid yellow colour?

Looks to be a mk2 in your pic. Is it a Parade

Yep she’ll be a mk2. Mk1 was 1980-1986, Mk2 1986-2003. Have you still got her or has she gone?
Well there you go - only owned her for about 20 years and never knew that! I'm very sorry to have to say we don't own her anymore. Mechanically she was in excellent condition, although she was needing a new exhaust down pipe and Oxygen sensor, but sadly the tin worm was rampant. sills, floors, box sections to say nothing of the door bottoms and rear wheel arches. For the last 5 years we owned her she had to have lots of welding done every year to pass the MOT and, although I was technically capable of doing it, my aging body let me down so I was paying to have the work done. At the last MOT The chap who always does welding repairs I can't manage said to me "Jock, that's got to be the last time. Don't bring her back again next year, there's nothing left to weld to!"

There was a lot of "me" invested in that car. I knew literally every nut & bolt! So deciding to scrap her was traumatic. Then I remembered that the liaison chap from company that did the beautiful old cars for my youngest son's wedding had been admiring her when he visited us to arrange which cars we wanted and discuss arrangements. I gave them a ring and asked if they would like to have her - I didn't disguise how much needed done. They told me they didn't just do wedding cars but also do classic car hires and because "Felicity" was a special edition "Parade" with the sun roofs they would like to take her and restore her if possible. They picked her up on a flatbed a couple of days later and that was the last I saw of her.

I've been meaning to ring them and ask how it all turned out but I am dreading they might tell me that they couldn't save her and she went to the scrappy. On balance I'd rather not know!
