Right, i'm a little confused. A lot of people say the maximum mounting depth in the MK2 punto for front speakers is around 46mm.

However, when I was fist looking for some replacements, I found some crappy MOS speakers in the garage (http://www.digitalstores.co.uk/mini...p?productPK=unittest-1OnLJ5FNnn2E1AB6qN3IEb-1)
and tried to fit these.

They have a mounting depth of 61mm, yet they fitted fine!

I put them in the exact same place as the stock speakers, and haven't purchased any fitting adapters, etc.

Have I done something wrong?

Anyway, on the speakers topic, I was planning on replacing the front speakers yet again (currently have some Fli Fi6's in, heap of crap), and was looking to replace them with some Vibe Black Air 6 6.5" Coax/Component

http://www.dvbcaraudio.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3294

They have a mounting depth of 62mm, which again seems very deep, but if a 61mm speaker fits, surely this should just about too?

Chris.

Have you tried winding the window down?

how big are the magnets???

i tried fitting some fusions ones, and they fouled on the window runners, so i had to magic up some mdf adaptor things which puch the speakers out.

if they are thinner magnets, then thats probably why they fit.

also, if they fit (and work?) why are you worrying? :D

The magnets were still a reasonable size, perhaps just not as wide as some previous speakers I've seen.

I have been hoping to fit some Black Air 6 coaxial/components in the current speakers place, considering they have the same mounting depth, but I feat they will have a much wider magnet (n)

As said the mounting depth really depends on the size of the magnet. If it is quite small then you will miss the runners that go behind the speaker pod and you will be fine with deeper speakers but with a bigger magnet you will most likely catch it.
