Bravo Matthewr1990's T-Jet Bravo Dynamic

Introduction

So after months of looking around, researching, test driving and even a little fight (don't ask). I have finally got myself a Bravo. And what a beauty she is. It's a (57 plate), Dynamic, T-jet 120.

Goodbye Megane. You horrible excuse of a car!

Now can someone point me in the direction of a new brain. Even the climate control confuses the hell out of me LMAO. Gonna need a really good read of the manual.

Anyway. The car has a full service history and only has 57,000 miles, it had got a broken glove box but the garage is sorting this for me. It's coming with 9 months mot, 6 months tax and warranty, it's just had new belt's, water pump, brakes and two front tyres. It's in beautiful shape with no dents although there is paint work damage on the rear bumper. It's not deep, they're just surface scratches and no dent so god knows what they hit or did lmao. But it's not severe and barely visible from a distance, so it will be sorted when and if I'm ready.

QUESTION: being as this is a 57 plate car. Will it be able to connect to my iPhone 5 with a software update and the right connector?

So anyway without further ado here she is. She will have a name in due time

Good looking interior

Considering it's 6 years old, the upholstery is immaculate

Beautiful colour

So what do you think?
Re: My new Bravo :D

Haha will this little mystery ever be solved?

Anyway on a brighter note. Finally updated my B&M system today. And Jesus Christ was it an hassle. Turns out my car has never been updated and was still on version 1.

Upon extracting the software version from the car it told me I needed version 5.6 as the latest. When installing this it failed. Upon reading further into the instructions it then told me I would need to install 5.5 first. Well by this time I had accidentally deleted the original extract file from the car. So long story short I ended up walking back and forth to the car about 6 times between finding the software downloading the software and installing it.

All done now thank god. And because I'm gonna wait until the new year to get the iPhone adapter I've decided to just throw hundreds of songs onto a memory stick for now. It works great. Can't believe it's took me a month to use the media player.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm guessing if I keep my phone connected through Bluetooth I can still use the phone functions even whilst playing my media from the memory stick.

But as a bit of fun here's a nice picture of the installing menu that I've looked at ALL afternoon. And yes it is that cold outside so walking in and out of the house with this weather peeved the GF off greatly. Boys and their toys though

Re: My new Bravo :D

Hey all, I've got a squeak coming from the steering column underneath the dashboard I'm going to guess it just needs a bit of grease or lube but can anyone recommend which one and where to get it. Obviously I don't want to pay a fortune :)

I think that problem has been solved by adjusting the column in and out several times to re-distribute the grease that's already there. Worth a try first!

Re: My new Bravo :D

So I have a very random and infrequent rubbing, grinding noise coming from the front drivers side of the car. My best guess it's within the wheel arch area. After finding the recall info on the bravo there is an issue with anti roll bar bushes wearing or something. (My car isn't in the recall list but doesn't mean it won't happen to me still surely). Would this be a symptom of this and how hard is it to check the state of these "bushes"? The noise is quite irregular I can never seem to find what exactly causes it. It seems to happen more often when I'm turning the car but sometimes just happens during slow acceleration. speed bumps dont seem to affect the noise though which makes me believe it's not the springs/absorbers etc.

Anyway my main question is what am I looking for if it is these bushes? How do I tell if they're worn and causing my noise issue?

Re: My new Bravo :D

Bit of an update for my car. Finally purchased my blue and me adapter. Great little thing, also bought an MFi approved short cable to avoid the mess in the centre console. Upgraded my lights today to the halfords brand super brilliance bulbs. They are VERY good. Such an improvement to whatever cheap model they put in before. £33 buy one get one free. I got them fitted because I'm lazy. In April I'm due a rather large annual bonus from work. To which I'm purchasing an induction kit, and remap. And I'm also going to have my alloys refurbished and colour changed to anthracite. Will i be the first dynamic model to do this
All in all after 4 months with the car I couldn't be happier. There are still little niggles I need sorting, a squeaky drivers seat is annoying me but I'll sort it when the weather gets nicer. My steering wheel creak has come back, but thanks to extended warranty I will be getting a new steering rack fitted in the next week or so. I'm playing with the idea of getting the springs upgraded to give me a nicer ride, the Eibachs pros look most promising. I don't really want a big drop in he car. I just want the performance. But 4 months later I still smile when I walk outside to get in my car. Never loved a car as much. I definitively made the right decision.

Here's another picture of my love hiding away inside at work to get away from all this rain.

For anyone contemplating getting one. Don't hesitate. If I could afford it. I would be up the FIAT dealer tomorrow and I'd buy myself a brand new one of these no questions asked. (Though I must admit I'd have a sport model with all the extra lol)

On a side note for all. The boot space is plenty big enough for kids... Literally. My daughter loves it haha.

What a little smasher! She looks the same age as my little one :) Emily is becoming a right handful toddling about and getting into mischief :D

Any more plans for the car?
Thanks, she's 10 months old. She's awesome though. And there are lots I'd like to do to the car to be honest. If I could find a set 0f the sport alloys 18' I'd have them instead of returning mine but I doubt I'd get a set with tyres for £400.

For now though, alloy refurb and colour change. Remap and induction kit are top priority and them possible the springs, I'll see what I want doing from then on lmao

Re: My new Bravo :D

Do you think a remap and induction kit will be worth the money?

Many of these 120 T-Jets rolling road over 130 bhp standard and it's fairly well known that the turbos run out of puff at 145 ish bhp. I've been thinking about it myself and to be honest it's a lot of money for +-15 bhp.

Unless you upgrade your turbo to a 150 T-Jet or Abarth 500 turbo unit? Then you can skip all of that for 170 bhp+ depending on other upgrades. That's probably a better "bang for buck" if you like and of course it's a straight swap.

Re: My new Bravo :D

I don't see why not?

It's exactly the same engine as in the T-Jet 150 and Abarth 500 and Punto Abarth... so I'm fairly sure it's one turbo out and another straight in.

Maybe the exhaust manifold or exhaust downpipe may need replacing? But that's no harder than replacing the turbo anyway!

I'd have to get confirmation on that last part. :)
