Smoking ain't so bad

I have a '96 TD100 which is a smoker under acceleration. I was worried about it, but having read every other message I guess it is just a characteristic. As far as noisy engines are concerned, let it run for a minute or so befoere driving off to let the engine get some oil moving round about it. That reduces the clatter when on the move in the first few miles. Also let it idle for a minute at the end of a long journey to let it cool a little. This reduces wear on the engine. There endeth the lesson!

Great forum by the way. All I need now is advice on bodybuilding the Bravo!Help?
