ok so I don't have a Cinq or a Sei but in 1 week I have managed to fall out with half the punto owners on here so decided to come ask advice in here as you guys are the guys in the know when it comes to 8v goodness lol.

so what I now have is a 1242 8v Punto Mk2 (yes the stupid micro ecu and cam sensor version) and its the 59bhp model so you know whats coming next.

what do people know about these??

can I fit a P75 head with my cam cover and sensor with my Cam pully???
would it be easier just to throw something 16v in there????

Its just a daily that I want to be a little bit quicker hence why I was just thinking of a P75 head and manifold/downpipe/Cat, just to gain a few ponies, but if a 16v is a straight fit to the current loom and will run (with the 16v ecu) I might just throw one of them in.

Try the P75 cam, with the Mk2 cam pulley and the complete Mk2 head.

Unless you're lucky and your P75 head has double valve springs, in which case P75 head. Mk2 pulley and Mk2 cam cover.

Someone tried something similar before and the ECU threw an EML -- can't remember if it actually affected running though.

16v probably would make for a better car, but I think you'll need the ECU too (and beware of the canbus!). 95 (or 110) bhp beats 75 every day of the week.

The 75 head/Cam will help but the limiter is the plastic type intake manifold/small TB setup, combined with a crap Ecu.
The only straight fit engine transplant, is going from an 1108 to 1242 MPI, but you already have a 1242.
IMHO, just buy the 1.2 16v version car.

agreed about the 95-110bhp beats 75 all day. this is were I struggle with this car, Canbus is going to ruin my life with this car which is why I want to try to keep things simple. I may actually sort its issues out and then stick it up for a swap for a Mk1 lol.

So if I was to go 16v with it as long as I have the ECU/Chip/Transponder I should be ok shouldn't I???

what 1.4 16v donor cars could I use???
what 1.2 16v donor cars could I use???

the thing that makes me want to stick with this shell is the fact its a factor black one and the only dint on the car is on the bonnet, been a long time since I saw a dint free black 3dr lol

Changing to a different engine/Ecu combination will require either, hacking up your existing looms or fitting the complete donor ones.
Ideally you would need to buy a complete write off to understand what's needed.

It would probably be cheaper to insure a bigger engine standard car than a converted one?

this could easily get carried away lol, its meant to be a daily, think I will stick with the 59bhp 1242cc 8v in it and just make it look and handle nicer and then when insurance is due for re-newal in April I will see about getting me a Mk1 16v again. cheers for the advice guys, its helped me decide what to do lol

You could just fit an 866 cam if you can get one. They change the power/torque curve but sadly, the fuel economy.
Even a Cinq Cam could help give the engine some life?

yeah I will keep my eye out and then throw 1 in if I can find 1, I know it made a fairly big improvement to my Cinq when I had it lol.

yeah fingers I used to have a Mk1 Sporting 16v and got that to 99.7bhp and it was a really fun car to drive. hmmmmm will see.

cheers again lads, been a big help.

going to keep things simple and save for a good solid clean Mk1.
