My 99 Marea 20V has started blowing headlamp bulbs and dashboard bulbs on a regular basis.

I have checked for bad earths and poor connections but am now at a loss.

Any ideas?

Hi - try checking the voltage. Faulty alternator (namely the controller diodes) may give out higher voltage, which leads to blowing bulbs more often.

:yeahthat:
a faulty voltage regulator on the alternator usually causes this. you should expect to see 14v at the battery with all electricals turned on (all lights, radio, demister, etc), and 14.4V with no electricals turned on. if you have more its a pretty sure sign you have too much output from the alternator.
