help i have a marea 1.9 jtd 105 weekend and when i am driving the brakes start applying themselves and slowing the car down if i stop and press the brake pedal hard for a couple of times the car will drive fine for a while and then do the same thing again. i have noticed when the car is slowing down due to the brakes that the brake pedal is quite hard as though the servo isnt working i have done this with the wheels off the floor and engine on tickover and it still does it, have checked calipers and they seem okay its not just one wheel it is all wheels but mainly feel front because disc brakes i have taken vacuum pipe off pump and ran engine on tickover and the pump is sucking in air as should be have been told there maybe a one way valve on vacuum side that could be faulty? anybody know where this is or know anything different would be a great help. cheers stevie boy

The fault lies in the brake servo - vacuum leakage. I got one from a Fiat breaker-yard in Serbia while I was on my way to Greece. All in all the repair at a Fiat Garage in Niš cost €50.

Nick
