Punto (Mk2/2b) Manual Gear not working (Punto Elx)

Dear friends, I need your urgent advice.My Fiat punto Elx 2001 model stopped switching gear when I try to move to the next gear number and now my car can't move.Please what do I do ???

hi DamianII
your problem is usually caused by the gear selector cable breaking internally very near the end by the gearbox
if you get a friend to change gear in the car for you whilst you look at the gearbox you should see if my diagnosis is correct
cheapest solution is a second hand selector box with the 2 cables,these are quite easy to fit or you could just change the broken cable by working underneath the car

this is a linkage cable i changed a few years back
note the cover removed from the bottom of the linkage
