Hi.
Need to change manicat on my 53 plate punto. Is this an easy job or is it best left to the pros.
Thanks. mick v

easy enough. Manifold nuts will probably take the studs out with them, no big problem. You may have to cut the bolts/nuts holding the mid-section on. Personally I had no bother with any of them. Remember the new manifold gasket, spare nuts/bolts just incase.

It is doable.

Definitely be easier if you have a set of ramps so you can get your head under to undo the two bolts that connect the manicat to the mid pipe section of the exhaust.

Pretreat the bolts with several good doses of penatrating fluid

it'll stink while you keep driving but it'll help

If the heat shield is still on the vehicle that'll be the biggest problem believe it or not

Dont forget to disconnect the lambda's wiring too

A good fitting socket is a must
Those ""akward"" position can actually be easily reached with a socket extension

Hi.
Cheers for all the info. Changed the cat at weekend. A few of the nuts on it were a bit awkward but managed with a few modified sockets.
Was changing the rest of the exhaust system as well so just hacked the other bolts off with a grinder!!!! Much easier. Haha.
