Most succinctly put sir! In fact I can think of some much more "colourful" expletives, perhaps not here though?

I've got a small number of Neilsen/Bergen branded tools and they seem pretty good to me. I have a 2011 1.2 Fiat 500. I took it to a local garage (that I trust and use regularly) to look at the exhaust because the rear box is rusty. However on inspection the garage think that 2 of the manifold bolts are either missing or sheared off. Is this a regular problem with Fiat 500s and do you need specialist Fiat parts or tools to fix? Thank you everyone who has helped me with this problem. Your advice has been really helpful. I tried to get advice from Fiat but they wanted £174 just to diagnose the problem and wouldn't give advice in person or over the phone. I went to Kwik Fit who kindly did a walk through of the exhaust for free (rear box is blown) and probed the manifold bolt holes and deduced that the bolts have indeed sheared off - they can't however do the work to remove them. I have therefore been back to the garage who spotted it and booked the car in to drill out the bolts, fit a new exhaust and make good. Nice teamwork everyone - thanks.

Sounds like the best possible outcome. None of your findings surprise me and I'm relieved to hear you've gone with the option which is most likely to both end in success and not be "stupidly" expensive.

To all the members who responded to my previous thread I would like to thank you all for your very helpful advice. I have now had the car fixed and actually all 4 manifold bolts had sheered. The garage had to drill out the old bolts and re-thread the holes which they did successfully. In discussion we are not exactly sure why this happened but suspect that the exhaust may have struck a very high road hump or obstruction forcing the exhaust backwards and shearing the bolts. Cost was about £780 including a new central and rear exhaust fitted. Thank you once again team!
 
My local Fiat dealer has told me I have to pay £175 for them just to look at it
Well dont ever go there again as that is outrageous. They clearly dont want your business and deserve to go bust.

Do check that the stud has not just fallen out, If it has it might be an easier fix. I wouldnt let an exhaust place do this job as I would not trust them to be up to something more complex. Ask about and find a good local engineer with some recommendations. I think I have just repeated what others said.
