Major Failure JTD 115

You may wish to read my post in the Multipla forum under "Major Failure" but I thought I'd ask in here:-

Last week the 115 JTD Engine in my multipla let go bigstyle and investigation by a mechanic friend of mine found a snapped crankshaft and cracked block.

Is this a known issue, has anyone else heard of this or experienced this??

Any info/advice greatfully received.

In the meantime, what was the mileage on it?
