General M-Jet / T-Jet argument thread !!

Guys I am new and don't want to upset any one but I must say this

Audi won le mans in a diesel last year(y)

And I am not bias but do have an Mjet was gonna try the Tjet but thought if I wanted a high performance petrol car I would have gone for something either german or italian with 6 + cylinders

However I am sure the Tjet is fun ........ probably:D

It is fun....with ear-plugs!!!!

LeMans has been won 2 years in a row by a diesel......

Audi are making the first production supercar R8 which is faster/more economical than it's petrol originator. 1,000Nm of torque!! Bejeeezzzzoooouus!!

I know your right but it does make a good read when different people get wound up about theier own opinions

Live and let live niether is better each to his own

I would never have bought a fiat before until I drove a GP 1.3 MJet in Italy and it change my whole concept of Fiats previuos shabby build quality but the GP really shows how Fiat have turned things around
Good on them for making two good sporting variants :D

Only bought an Mjet cause I wanted performance and economy

I am sure!! Now that is an achievement I think people including J Clarkson how I think is a motor journalist god need to sucome to the fact that deisel technology has caught up with petrol tech I have always been a petrol head and owned a number of petrol mercs AMG/ performance plus VeeDub GTI's and aircooled in my teen days and early twentys and even owned an Alfa 156 2.5 V6 for a very short time I loved that engine shame about the lectrics!
Soon it will all be hybrid or fully electric or somthing like that anyways so gents ? I suggest you all enjoy what ever you have while you can:cool:

I class Jeremy Clarkson as an entertainer rather than a motor journalist now, he often highlights unimportant parts of cars for the comical nature. Don't get me wrong he's a funny bloke, but I wouldn't decide on a car purchase based on one of his 'reviews'

I totally agree but as you say he is comical and that by some peoples standards makes him likable although I disagree with his way of thinking when it comes to diesels an niether do I agree on the topgears team staements that you must have owned an Alfa in your motoring life to be a true petrol head there are plenty of other cars out thier that could qualify you as one even just owning a number of cars that you like to tinker with through pure enjoyment qualifies you in my book

Sorry think I am thread jacking slightly here Please ignore me

Completely agree.

Don't worry about it, your in the GP section.

By the way Kris noticed your GPS is re-mapped Where exactly do you feel the power gains when driving it

Coming back to the topic in question Petrols always deliver higher up the revs and diesel;s as we know have low down grunt and mid range torque where do you think the Diesel re-map benifits performance most (not talking economy here)

Time is a great healer....you'll get over your mistake I'm sure:)

Oh....forgot to mention that the MJet holds it's value better too and it's tuning options are far superior. Sorry!

You really should not make comments on tuning, you've already proven you know absolutely nothing about petrol or diesel modifications!

And as regards residual value the M Jet is forcast to retain a **** poor 37% after 3 years so I'd be suprised if the T Jet will be any worse.

Where do get get your information? :bang:

Oh I'm ready for the smart ass, eloquent reply with zero factual content! (y)

Get out!

No need to be like that IMO.

The power comes in alot earlier, thus eliminating alot of lag straight away, you will have to change gear earlier and lower. If you get your Rolling Roaded after the map then it's best to study the graph to figure the optimum gear change point.

It benefits well lower down to bring the power in and the mid range torque band is vastly improved.

Nothing untoward in my post...all fact. This isn't a playground...don't need to hold each others hands! :D

As has been said before...Don't like it don't read it...and no I won't get out, not unless I get booted out by a mod! ;)

This is called the "argument thread" after all!!

Yeah...they do like an Alfa on Top Gear don't they. There is a bit of a bias towards Italian cars regarding most opinions too...especially the supercars but I guess they do dominate that market. I believe Clarkson has just bought a Lamborghini Mercialago....lucky bugger!

They don't give Fiat much of a look in though:( I don't think they ever reviewed the GP did they? 500 review could of been better too (BTW I was invited to the launch at my local garage last night. It was great! Loads of food and wine and it's a great little car when you get up close)

I'm pretty sure the next series will highlight the diesel cars market momentum and they'll eventually have to come round to the fact that the power/economy/green mix is best accomplished with these engines. As I mentioned in another thread the I reckon the most emotional, entertaining and enjoyable episode for the three presenters was when they did the 24hr LeMans style race in the BMW330d(y)

That new Diesel R8 looks awesome, could toe a Boeing 747 (litterally). And a combined mpg of 28mpg aparantly, I wonder if thats a 'real' figure or a computer driving it figure .

And I know what you mean about top gear anti fiat. They never get a look in. Before the 500 the last car to get a review was the Panda they didn't even bother with the 100hp I think . Where as 5th gear did.

Thanks for the link BTW..

As I suspected another really informative posting.... ;)

Shame you can't channel more effort into a proper response to where you get your tuning or retained value of a GPS from, especially the T Jet....

Come on surprise with with some useful info!

Would be a bit difficult due to the fact the T-jet hasn't been out that long to know IMO.
