M Broadband > Wireless?

hey all, since the cheapest option for my place is to have a 3 mobile broadband, managed to get what i think is a good deal, 30 day rolling contract, £8/month for 15GB.

BUT obviously it's one of thos USB dongle dealies, me and the GF have a laptop each and my xbox that connect to the internet, i've seen there's a way of making a laptop into a wireless router but it's a bit of a faff on booting up a laptop every time we want to use the wireless net.

i've seen those MiFi dongles but from what i can see if those are a seperate thing you need to take a contract out on

you can buy routers that either take your sim or you plug the dongal into, then everyone can conect to it

When i used mobile broadband, Always found the 3 Mobile Preoloaded pretty good:-

just need to set a wirless network select to share your internet wirlessly

You can get a Wifi router than you can plug your USB dongle into to share the connection. This also lets you place it where you get best reception.

The method of connection doesn't matter (3g, ethernet, 56k, bluetooth, firewire...). All you have to do is share the connection from the network connections in the control panel.

bens phone is a mobile broadband router hub thing, i dunno what phone it is though

Dongles are slow, no good for gaming(Xbox, PS3 etc.)

Draytek/Vigor (Im guessing so do others)have router that support USB Dongle as connection type seen them about business seem to have them as a contingency option. As mentioned will be poor for online gaming or downloading uploading large files (although i have personally downloaded a 1.5GB ISO overnight via mobile)

i'm getting over 2mb on mine which is fine, never had any problems with xbox live yet

would that do the job, £22, as it's mobile broadband i don't see the point in spending lots on a router, i can't work out if it's a type to plug in at home or if it's just for 'on the go' and takes batteries or something

all i want is a run of the mill router that works, it's mobile broadband so it doesn't really matter.
