He's probably too ashamed to come here now that he's bought a Volvo...:tosser: that he is.

Hi all - sorry I have not been about much - I have been busy with the hall and other 'stuff' - almost done now!

I have a rather embarrassing confession to make - I have bought a *****, erm sorry Volvo!

Long story but while I was commuting to Torquay and back I decided to try to get a family hack as I was racking up the miles on the b and they were beginning to take their toll. I gave myself a 3k budget but could not find anything decent (despite several weekends looking at cars).

Cutting a longer story shorter a good friend of mine mentioned that he was p/x-ing his 5 year old V70 for a brand new XC90 and had only been offered just over 3k p/x - rather than let Volvo profit from the p/x he offered it to me for the p/x value, deal done!

Although it is not as good looking as the b, not as quick to 60 and does not handle as well it is a great car to drive! It handles more like a hatch than an oil tanker, it has bags of torque, more gizmos and gadgets than you can shake a stick at and the most comfortable car seats I have ever sat in! Aside from a small graze on the the rear wing and wheels that could do with a re-furb its as good as the day it left the showroom! It is a 2.4 170 bhp V70 SE with a winter pack and family pack - so very well specc'd

If I can keep the b I will do, to be honest it will be down to money and contracts this summer. Things in the contract market are still VERY slow and there are still lots of people in this area loosing their jobs, all a bit negative at the moment. If I do have to sell LRB it will only be temporary, I will buy another b as soon as I am able to - either an early low mileage red or orange one or a Riviera, but for the time being I don't want to think about selling!

To give you the chance to take the pee I thought that I would share a few piccies of my new 3k steed!

Took LRB for a quick run out to do the weekly shop this morning (despite having a shagged wheel bearing) - fell in love all over again!

Volvo is comfy, smooth and powerful but the b is full of passion, raw and enthusiastic - if I can figure out a way of keeping them both I think I have the perfect fleet!

Hi Lee

The Volvo looks like a cracking good buy at £3k and you can't go wrong at that price. They might have an image problem but for a family lugger they are fine, comfortable and reliable. I have owned a couple in the past and never had a problem selling them on. Hope you can get to keep LRB. Just done 2k miles in France in the B, fantastic time and she never missed a beat. Give me a shout if you fancy a lunchtime bevy next week.

Rich, good to hear that you had a great time and a trouble free one at that! I am still 'between contracts' so a get together next week would be great! Name a day....
