Hi again (sorry lol),

I have a set of four 40mm lowering springs for my Bravo SX. Now im lowering the back for sure but i want to lower the front aswell. The thing is at the moment when i turn the wheels full lock the front left (i think) wheel rubs very slightly under the arch (16" wheels). If i was to lower the car 40mm would it rub more or would it not make any difference.

Other people on here have got 17" wheels etc and they have lowered it but i cant see why mine is rubbing with only 16s with it not lowered.

Thanks

Your spring or shocks could be knackered or your tyres could be too big. 16" is only the diametre of the wheel and not the full trye. If you have really big tyres on the with a high wall they would be bigger in diameter and possibly cause rubbing.

PS unshore should be unsure :)

Wheel fitment

Ok got that. if i was to put a set of 14" Wheels on (can get hold of some for £100) there would be more of a gap to lower it on ?

Thanks

PS- Thanks for the correction :) lol

Read my last post. Wheel size is irrelevant. Tyre size is what matters.

19's will fit on and lowered with the correct size tyre

Tyre change

Ok sorry.

At the moment my tyres are 50 or 55 profile if i was to change my tyres to something like 40 profile that would give me the room i need to lower 40mm?

Thanks

40/50 profile means nothing. The middle number is simply a percentage of the tyre width.

Sorry if im gettin annoyin lol i dont get what you mean.
Lets put it simply....
What would you advise for me to do?

Thanks

1stly - make sure you have correct tyres
2nd - make sure existing suspension aint fecked.
If all ok springs should go on fine.
Mine has 17's and lowered 40mm with no probs

Wheels

So when your talking about the size are you on about the width of the tyre then wimmy?

Thanks
Alex80

I was mainly talking of the height but width will also matter. However when you stated 40/50 this means nothing unless you lett us know the width too. The 40/50 isnt millimetres but a percentage of the width.
Please read the above link. It explains a lot on the numbers on your tyres

its all about 3 things:

1. Wheel offset
2. Tyre profile (thickness of ur tyre)
3. Wheel width

Offset should be between 35 and 40

Profile on 17's should be 40 or 45

And the width shouldn't really be more than 7.5"

HTH

the width is fine, but the profile is a bit thick, wats the offset?

Wheels

Not sure what the offset is but i can have some 14" wheels for £100 so i might get them cus i prefer the wheel. But if i put 14" alloys on there from 16" will i have enough or more room to lower 40mm then?

Thanks
Alex80

Ye them wheels from paul?? I know for a fact there the correct offset and defintaley wont scrape, and has got new tyres on them, i was with him in his car the other day, there will be enough room to go 60mm but i wouldnt advise it if you have a kit as mine is lowered 60mm and i have alot of problems with the height!

Alex80

Why why why on earth would you want to put some pram wheels on your car....

Listen to what Wimmy says... You got 16" running 205/50s

Most people who lower there cars will have 17" wheels running 205/40s or even bigger wheels running a lower tyre profile i.e 40, 35, 30.

So its plane to see that the 16" wheels will fit plus there are a few on here that have 17" Wheels lowered 60mm.

i have 17s running a 60mm drop, and regardless of the fact i have wide arches, i could have had 18's on the standard arches without rubbing providing they were the correct offset etc

where is the wheel exactly rubbing? it is could be a loose arch liner..or maybe supension or wishbones

sound's like your suspension is due to be changed anyway, do you have any oil on the shocks? easy way to test is to run your hand on suspension and if its oily, they are on there way out.
