General lowering kit

as said before, cut the front and back in half

back are pretty easy to get too, front maybe a little bit of trouble

i say cut them in half cause it be easier then measuring them exact

look at the pic i put up on 2nd page, my mate holding the full front bump stop and then he holding the front bump stop cut in half

right, ppl, im goin to get sum lowering springs myself but not pi, cus ppl i spoke to said they go soft after time, maybe eibach or apex from gsr. From wot u all been sayin im gonna have to cut the bumpstops in half, which i assume are just made of rubber? but the question i got is......wouldnt lowered springs reduce the amount of movement in your springs, which wud eventually shag them??? or am i wrong? :(

i just want the easy and cheap option of springs not full kit, but dont wanna screw my car up!

With most of the lowering springs u see sprawled on the net, are they lowered and stiffened? so you get better all round ride?

the bump stops are foam, so easily cut with say a bread knife :D

its best to wait for a proper answer to your question though, but here is what i think

the spring doesnt reduce the amount of movement, its just that the coils are tighter so dont need to compress as much

i suppose the longer you just have springs on standard shocks the quicker the standard shocks will wear out

http://www.cheekycento.co.uk/seicentomodifications.htm lists a few kits for the cento, so your choice aint that limited

Right, the back right makes a very loud grinding noise when going aroung left hand corners, left side is fine, what is this?? is it just the spring settling again after being out?? Please advise.

Thanks

Shouldnt make any grinding noises at all id be very worried because something could be loose or does it sound like a tyre rubbing hard against metal

Also just to mention i WOULD NOT recomend the Apex suspension kit to anyone as the guarntee is ****e and the paint flakes of and they rust very easily unlike spax and koni etc which are only slightly more And also there is some very bad posts on here about Fast Fiat just to warn all the new comers so beware

some1 please help!

the grinding continues at the rear right, only over bumps and round left hand bends

i cant see anything loose, only difference i can see between the left and right rear is that the rear left has 6 coils packed tight whereas on the right its only got 5 and the 6th one is quite close to them, could this be the problem?
Could the orientation of spring when was put in cause this??

thanx

cheers gaz and arc (y)

sorry if im sounding silly here, but just asking? i cut the bumpstops in half, does that not lower the car aswell as what the springs are doin??

Nope they are there effectively as a last resort when the springs bottom out.

Should only actually see the car lower when you cut them if you've got springs so low the stops are in the way of their travel & your car is riding on stops all the time
