Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: .

£700 for an HGT, mine was 140 from a fiat dealer for a 1.6.

Clutch anywhere from £100ish to £300ish depending on the garage.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: .

cheers tom,

so are the 1.4sx's as really bad as everyone makes out to be?? really though, compared to other cars, such as clios, corsas, fiestas, civics, puntos, focuses, etc etc etc, are the 1.4s that bad?

(when i 1st got it i loved it and kinda still do, its only that ive been on this webiste that ive learned the 1.4 is a crap model, so are you people going off one persons opinion and copying them or is it really poo!)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: .

Having never owned one I can't say but as far as I know there are no real issues with the 1.4 apart from the MPG.

Its still a Bravo, just the bottom of the range one :)

I knew a guy who had a tuned 1.4, it would out run my 1.6 from a standing start but when mine got up to revs it would out run his.

Hi.

Sorry I didnt catch your posting earlier, Id have suggested you didnt drive it.
Mine behaved in the same way Just before the thrust
bearing shattered.

As a word of warning, Keep an eye on your main starter
connection for a while after the clutch has been done (for looseness). There has been a number of threads
about starters failing after clutch jobs. Mine did, The
solenoid fails, cost £45 for a recon solenoid.

As for bravas in general, Ive had/done all the usual
problems You hear like Red Key, clutch plus a few more.

Latest is a leaky front crank oil seal. Replaced once and gone again, not sure why.

Worse still, in chasing the oil leak Ive found my crank end float is .3mm, should be .161 max.
Its a P reg and done 80K.
Not sure how serious that is but its twice as much
as it should be, But the crank is now grinding away the rear oil pump face plate.

Something else for everyone to keep an eye on, maybe.

cheers tom n steve

if the 1.4 is just the bottom of the range for bravo's alone then ill keep her, just got a quote too for a clutch= £45 and an extra £50 to fit it, so its not half as bad as id expected, so im quite happy now lol,

whilst im here i think i better get this kocking sound sorted, tom, i think you said before that it was my outer cv joint is that right? as ill say that to the blokey in the garage, i just dont want anything else colapsing on me,

Re: Re: cheers tom n steve

Is it a clunk clunk or does it sound like a tin can full of nails?

Re: Re: Re: cheers tom n steve

to be honest tom, both,

its like a crunchy sound, do u know what i might do

record it and email you the sound as an mp3 or wav, lol

at least then youll have an idea,

its definatly situated at the front right(drivers side) wheel. it kinda sounds like someone bending a metal dinner tray really violently, lol

Re: Re: Re: Re: cheers tom n steve

Sounds like the ball joint is going. You have to replace the entire lower arm though.
