Curious if anyone has any thoughts on this.

I've just had the sump replaced on my 1.3JTD-engined Cross (it was an MoT fail due to leaking oil).

Now the car has much less torque than before. Especially when cold. It actually struggles with hills especially in reverse, and I'm in lower gears than I expect to be for hills.

It feels very much like the power doesn't kick in until significant rpm (like 3000+) but then everything feels completely normal.

I was wondering if they could have fitted the wrong sump and it's somehow affecting compression? Or maybe the oil pressure.

Obviously I'll be heading back to the garage for a conversation. But any experience anyone has of something similar would be very welcome!

Its more likely something has been disturbed in the turbo side of things and you are loosing boost. I would take it back and ask them them to check it again. A loose pipe might be an easy fix. The sump its self should not affect power, but it may have been necessary to disturb the exhasut to effect the change and this may be involved.
