General loss of power

hi i have a fiat seicento sporting (v reg 2000) spi
i have taken the fule filter out off the tank to try and make it run better.
i have also blown air through the fule lines from the engine bay but when driving even when warmed up the car keeps losing power but did work for a little bit.
but after a few min the power comes back.
i have no idea what is going on but there is only a setering wheel light on the dash.

if you have any ideas how to fix it would be alot off help.

i did this 4 weeks ago when i first got the car but it had these problems when i got it.
and there is an 2nd filter under the car.

Which raises the next question -- which engine does it have, MPI or SPI?

For now, you might as well replace whatever you took off -- it's not helping and may do harm.

Shouldn't be underfuelling significantly.

What kind of state is the air filter in? I'd look at oil and all 3 filters change.

it dose have power steering and it dose not work but you dont need it on a small car like this.
it is light as it is.

Sounds like a crank sensor would be top of my list, is it clean, wiring and connector intact?

I presume the speedo works.

the light is on all the time and i changed the filers when i first got it and the oil belts ect only thing i have not changed in the under car fuel filter.
but the air filter looks like new

I'd change that. Sei ones are not cheap.

You need to sort out the power steering (or bin the column and replace with a non-power one and the top mounts from a non PS car). It'll be an automatic MOT fail.

Or disconnect the column electrics and remove the bulb.
