Dear all - First post and a little annoyed, unfortunatley if it isnt one thing, its the other with my Bravo.....starting to regret buying it, which is a shame cos the car is Great, but all the niggly little problems are getting on my nerves!

I currently have a Fiat Bravo (Diesel) '07 Plate - 1.9 150Bhp Dynamic with 34000 miles.

Just had new Brakes and Pads put on and now my brakes squeek like mad whenever I apply brakes. (they didnt before)

Secondly and most worrying is, whenever I go to drive off, I have definitely noticed a lack of power and acceleration for Gears 1 and 2 until around 2000 Revs (turbo) whereby everything is fine again.

Any ideas? Is this a major issue, and will it cost tons or will it be under warranty? Is this another Fiat issue which is common as I already had a few of those already ( dud Bluetooth, Bravo Thud, new bushes, etc...)

Thanks

I'm afraid it seems a common problem with the 1.9 multijet 150. It's the EGR valve stuck open, allowing exhaust gas to recirculate when it shouldnt. Search the forum for egr valve. Should be a warranty fix with a modified item.

Excellent - thanks - you sure this is a warranty job though?...I bought it used Jan 08 and it was first registered in Aug 07?

Yes ours had this too. The warranty will be until Aug 2010 so you should have no problems. You will probably find your local dealer is well aware of this issue.:)

Yep, definitely sounds like the EGR, mines a June '07 and just had it replaced at 33k, all on Warranty. Perfect now...

If the dealer won't play ball call Fiat Central Customer Care, they are aware and will get the dealer to fix it.

August 07.... awww it's same age as mine!

Will be due it's 2nd service soon? Squeeling brakes is usually a sign of either a failure to clean the calipers enough, or the disks being worn to one shape by the original pads, and the new ones not yet worn into the same shame. I'm going to head to softer pads when it comes around to replacing them - greenstuff perhaps.

I experienced something very strange today...

I was in 3rd gear then the car all of a sudden cut power... The accelerator wouldnt be doing anything all of a sudden. I put my foot down and still the engine didnt respond. It was like the car was not running and key was OFF. But i was travelling normally around 60km in 3rd gear and the engine just did not respond to any acceleration. It was strange. It happened twice! Took it to the dealer they couldnt find anything.. No warning lights were on too. I was driving straight and it just happened...

The dealer did notice the plastic tube the goes from the top of the air filter to the turbo was actually loose. So the car was sucking in dirty air. No idea how long for but just noticed it. The engineer said it would cause the lack of power. Just isnt good for your turbo and engine. He glued it on as it was hot glued from factory anyway. Just had come off.

Anyone maybe have any idea what may cause the lack of power loss ???

answer to your Squealin Brakes is simple

Not enough copper greece on the back of the pads. This stuff prevents as much vibration and helps when replacin the pads next time round....

used to have that problem with one of my cars but i knew it was due to not putting copper greece on.. Shot some on and it sorted the problem out.

when you say loss of power u been below 2k revs? Mine seems to be the same like not very responsive below 2k revs iv got the 2.0 165 multijet Diesel but i only have like 10k miles on mine.

Which pipe was it? EGR valve as well will make your car cut out as well..

it did it on my Vauxhall Astra since they have a EGR valve on them as well and mine was faulty and made the engine run rubbish..
