Technical Looking for XUD engine

Hi,
Our engine blew up in our motor home, and we’re struggling to find an 1.9 XUD engine for it. Can anyone point us in the right direction of finding one? Or know what other engine can replace it?

The XUD engine was used in lots of Peugeots of that era, both turbo and non turbo. More powerful were the Turbo ones used in some Peugeot 405s etc.
Even the later Peugeot HDI engines are loosely based on it , but no good to you as need ECU/computer etc.

As above it was generally regarded as a Peugeot product,

Back then it was a Very popular diesel and found it's way into plenty of cars, mpvs as well as the Sevel built vans of Fiat, Citroen and Peugeot

I believe Rover cars used them, as well as many Citroen.. (naturally)

Maybe do your research, and buy a Short MOT car with a good XUD engine

Would be most cost-effective

but most "vans" will have covered massive miles 20 years on..

A camper is potentially having the least miles covered..

Obviously Cars were purchased to cover "Diesel mileage"..

Tricky to find something in good order nowadays

There’s one in the Midlands that sells ‘trade ins’ many of which are campers…I’ll find the link

You can look for a replacement 1.9 XUD engine from older Peugeot 205, 306, 405, or Citroën BX/Xantia models. Try UK or European breakers, eBay, or Facebook groups like “XUD Owners.” If you can't find an XUD9, the DW8 is a possible (but less powerful) alternative. For a direct swap, stick with the XUD9 or XUD9TE.

I agree, as I mentioned in my answer in #2, if lucky some of the 405 Peugeots and Citroen equivalents had the turbo intercooled version with lots of power.
I am not sure but it may be possible to use the bottom end of the later Peugeot HDi version if that is what is damaged.

Yes,

But due to the UK Climate,
Most of these went for scrap 15 years ago,

Difficult to find now
