Ok got the spanners out today...
First off I had to turn down a 36 socket to get the hub off.... It requires a really thin walled socket.
Then the disk was seized to the hub!... It gave in after a while though.
One of the pinch bolts holding the hub carrier to the strut was seized solid.
Took a good hour to get it out... I actually used a hammer drill to pulse it out for a finish... It was pretty resilient.. As bad as I've come across.
Next was the dreaded abs sensor... I wisely took the whole hub off by disconnecting the sensor under the bonnet... The routing is tricky but doable... I tied some cable to it before I removed it.
A good hour of gently prising and pushing from below and out it came... I can see how so many people break these, not an easy task even on the bench.
Rebuild went fine, getting abs cable back where it belonged was tricky.
Took me a good 4 hours all in. ... It's all good again now
