Congrats on the new car. .
The wheel nuts on the current alloy wheel wll fit the spare wheel. If they gave you the 'original' wheel nuts (they will probably in the key kit) you could use one of them and not bother with using the 'key' nut when putting the spare on.
hi and thanks! unfortunately the car only came with the locking key which is the master one from the dealer i bought the car from as they couldn't find the one that came with it!

The locking key nut will do - just be careful it doesn't 'slip' when you are putting the nut on so that it does not get damaged. Anyway it's highly unlikely you'll get a puncture (here's hoping ). I assume in the UK you'll get free roadside breakdown as part of the 3 year warranty - unsure as to how long it lasts and if you have to have pre-registered. I had a 'little' trouble on this with a secondhand '08 when they have 4 years AA cover to match the 4 year warranty (the last 2 with the dealer).
its just over 3 years old so the warranty has expired! i had a problem with my previous car involving locking nuts!!! not fun in the freezing winter!!!

Probably worth taking out some kind of roadside cover. Some insurance policys provide it as a 'freebie'. I don't use it (although I still have it) but my wife had called them plenty of times even on her '09 mito MJ.
If you have't done so already, you might want to check what level of cover they give you as a "freebie" with your bank account. Call me a cynic but I would assume that it is not the highest level of cover and it may not apply to every situation which you would want it to.

I'm a bit of a cynic lke RobinPJ. When you're stuck in the middle of nowhere you will pay anything to 'get out of it'. Not too sure how it works in the UK but with the AA in Ireland if a friend recommends you to join the AA they get a kick back of around €50. If there're a real friend they will give you that money so your net price should a lot less. You can also opt not to have homestart cover which reduces your price a bit more. Remember a work college organising to have her car pushed up the road because she had no homestart service .
