Bought from JamieK and rehomed from London this is perhaps the ultimate combination for me - a late model fuel injected twin sunroofed RED Panda!

Suprisingly no one mentioned it was for sale on car and classics and after the demise of Fizzle I knew I would have to have at least one red Panda on the drive.

Though a little scruffy around the edges with new bumpers, sunroofs and a bit of magic dent removal and lots of polishing (not to mention a full cavity waxing/underseal) hopefully this little fella will go from faded glory to full techniCOLOUR.

Provisionally called "COLOUR" (I'm keeping the decals on) he's been fettled by Freddy panda1408 at the moment and the initial inspection of the underbody is excellent.

More pictures to follow ;)
I had a phone call from Freddy last night, unfortunately the scuttle and A pillar has some pretty bad rust under the window rubber, it could be treated but would still lurk and annoy me so that will be a new windscreen job as no point putting a chipped one back in once sorted. It has the slight advantage of being able to replace the non-standard pillar aerial with a Zendar clone.

This lead on to a further conversation.

The doors have been resprayed (or replaced) and blown in with lacquered paint which is now peeling. The rest of the car is solid polishable paint - it is never going to match!
The twin sunroofs are being replaced and suddenly with no windscreen, sunnies on the next logical step is a respray.

So we're on the lookout for recommendations for paint shops in the Stoke area.

There. I've said it in public. I'm getting a car professionally painted. In the original colour.

I never liked having money in the bank anyway - I'd rather have it on the drive in Panda form Ahhhh

My god your going to town on him (y) I can't wait to see Colour once you've finished with him, I might even have to make a special trip up north once he's finished :D he's a lucky boy having you as his owner

Hopefully he'll be on show at the NEC resto show later this year!

Trouble is if he's too good I won't want to drive him!

Now back at Freddy's workshop :)

Now after all the stripping back things can go back into place - well the things I like anyway!

With the interior being very grey I've been persuaded to put the AlfaSud seats in it from Fizzle, along with his grey seat belts and door cards and dash roll (some bits came from DM though as I had a slight accident with the speaker positioning in Fizzle).

It won't be a full on Colour anymore but the green seats and interior is a taste that I didn't acquire.

Although I sourced a brand new Y10 anti-roll bar I haven't got any fittings - bushes etc - to aid fitting, Giacosa firstcar-Y10 any ideas where to source these?

Damm, I could get you the ARB only preety cheap.
Re the fittings, there are special tie rods with fixing point welded on the the rod.

I can take some photos of the from the full ARB kit i've got.

I've had a look at some previous posts with photos of the tie rods. It look's like it should be doable to modify some standard ones and use some universal ARB bushes, of course it would be much easier to have some that I can just bolt straight on!

If we do end up having to modify some standard rods, some detailed photos and measurements of the bracket and their locations would be very useful though Jacob(y)

panda1408 has priced up the fittings for the ARB and it's heading north of £200 - not including the roll bar!

I'm not convinced it's worth that kind of money for a car which is only for high days and holidays with a standard 999cc engine!

If it were going in a 1242cc I might think different.

Oh the trimmer wanted £150 for putting supplied fabric on the headlining = which has two huge sunroof holes in it!!!!

Much cheaper to keep a car standard then ;O

Oh and an appeal for parts -

Rear sunroof frame has disintergrated - any good second hands one out there, don't think I want to pay partsworld £175!

Also the grey surround to the instrument binnacle needs replacing as the vents have fallen to bits and can't be repaired.

Colour - who really has more Fizz than colour bits now - has come together quite nicely bar a genuine Zendar door hinge aerial (Fiat uk don't have them anymore but they do have bumpers!) and a set of number plates!
I couldn't find the V5, then it struck me it must have gone to my old address after I'd moved so I had to pay the DVLA £25 to supply a new one at the local Post Office and Taxed it today for the first time.

Hopefully it will make its debut at the NEC for the show next week, I've not seen it completed and cleaned up so getting excited.

I suppose people will be interested in how much has been spent on it, the truth is I don't know! I know what I paid for the car, what various bits and pieces have cost but don't have a final figure - I bet Freddy knows though!

Anyway, if anyone has a spare zendar or a lead on a genuine one it would be the finishing touch :)

Hmmm, I thought the one on Ricambio was Zender but having had a look they're not :(

northernchap Does the one from Ricambio fit ok? The non genuine one John got (not sure where from?) goes on half way before getting stuck. Not sure why, but even a gentle tap from a rubber malet won't presuade it to go fully home and any more force will result in paintwork damage!

I've tried a proper Zender one from another car and it fits perfectly. Zender were the OEM supplier of aerials to Fiat and they were available from dealers until a few years ago, obviously stock has ran out now though(n)
