General Little video of my car as it reaches completion

I like the way, on one of the downhill sections, that your hand instinctively moves down to change up before the brain reminds it that there are no more gears to go. ;)!

cheers, Steve

That might be what I was doing or maybe I was anticipating the need for a move down to third....more likely :)

First gear doesn't have the benefit of helical cut gear wheels which have a smoother, gradual engagement...hence the distinctive whine.

What I proved, as Tony can see, is that a totally unmodified 500 (OK..it has a satnav!), can comfortably cope with long journeys and seriously challenging roads without feeling something lacking either in power output or braking output.

There you have my mantra.

Nice little video Peter---you have done a outstanding job on your car. 1 question though--isn't the wearing of seat-belts mandatory on Lewis, as it is elsewhere in the UK?

Great video Peter.
The car looks & sounds great. A true testimony to the pure basic, but brilliant design for this little vehicle. No wonder it was so popular and stayed in production for so long.
Those roads look perfect for driving. A test of your driving skills no doubt, especially when you come across someone else on the road.
Personally I have decided to keep mine true to its original design, apart from the upgrade to 650cc & 126 gearbox. Mainly just to give it a fair chance against modern traffic & also I fear the wife would not get on too well with the non synchro box.
Look forward to any further videos of the 500 in beautiful surroundings.
Also looking forward to the day I can drive mine.

Good point:eek:
I must have misread the Gaelic roadsigns about that. Also, I wasn't sure whether to drive on the right or the left but then realised that on roads like that, you're on both sides at thesame time.:)

Good question:)

You could actually wander around the place and as it's a small island and has very friendly inhabitants, you coudn't get lost for long. I needed it because I was there for my work and I had various places to get to at set times which included the need to reach three separate ferries over two days.

It also warned me when I was speeding :D but not when I didn't have my seatbelt on.;)

Thats a little rocket you've got there Chris! Nice house by the way

Someone is getting the hang of his video camera!?

I really need an assistant. I know what I want to do but struggle to do it. You wouldn't believe the amount of to and fro needed taking shots from all angles. Sometimes I'm half a mile away from a £1000 worth of camera equipment whilst other cars are driving past it in the middle of nowhere.

It's good fun seeing the video back though.
