General lights and levels

Hey all,
this is probably a bit of a morons question but i'm having difficulty locating the oil filter on my HLX 2.0 20v 2000. i got a replacement filter from my local motor factors but i am sure they gave me the wrong type. is it an inline filter or a standard ford escort 1990 type of effort?? also, i got the engine management light on and quite a concerning loss of power, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. it's not that i'm incapable but this is my first fiat and would like to know my way round it a bit better.

The original filter is short and set back into the block front/bottom/left a right pig to get out. The champion F107 is longer and easier to change next time.

The easiest way to find what your problem is, is to get a diagnostic.
