Is there anyway (aside from rewiring) that the lights, especially the sidelights can remain on without the keys in the ignition?

Turn the key to off, press in the little tab thing next to the lock, turn the key back one more...side lights will come on

Not true, once u have pushed the tab in and turned the key back, you can take the keys out and lock the car and leave it. Its meant for people who live on main roads so they can leave their sidelights on so that cars could see them, it would be useless if u had to leave the keys in.
