that doesn't wash i'm afraid. you just end up wasting police time when they come to your door with a court summons.
i fixed penalty is much more preferable than having to go to court.
In most cases its unlikely you'd wriggle out of it.
I probably could admit to occasionally doing 10mph faster than the posted limits. On a motorway. In town, you wont see me doing more than 30mph. You got busted doing 37% faster than the speed limit in an area where pedestrians are likely to be wandering around. We've all seen the stats saying that 80% of people hit at 30mph survive, and that at 40mph 80% die. Its 30 for a reason, and if it went to court, i think you'd have a hard time justifying speeding in a built up area i'm afraid...
