Hi all,
my '94 uno has a leaking freezeplug (the round metal on the back of the engine block). Coolant water is dripping from 2 of the plugs. What should I do with it?

Welcome to the forum!

Go to an engine shop, who should be able to provide the correct plug and fit it for a modest charge :)

I think if you were to drill a hole in it and put in a self-tapping screw, you could possibly pull/lever it out with self-locking pliers. Or possibly hammer a small screwdriver into the edge of the plug (the steel is much softer than the cast-iron engine block). Drive in the replacement plug with a large socket from a socket set, though access may be difficult.

It's unusual to have two of these plugs leaking at once - must have been a bad day at the factory.

If the leak is very slight, I recommend Wynns Radiator Stop-Leak in the purple bottle, if you can get it. It's a green liquid which sets up quite well when exposed to air. Surprising what it can fix! It is obviously not going to be an ideal repair, but it depends on what the rest of your Uno is like.

Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply. I will try to get the Wynns stop leaks for now and see what happen. The engine has 149000 km on it and still going strong.
1370 cc with carb and electronic igntion as standard. The rest of my uno still looks good and I really like it.

Thanks again,
