Hmmm... after reading that review I'm gonna go for a Delphi, just got to find somewhere that sell 'em near me. Not sure what Allan Kay stock, they're reputedly very cheap for batteries but I've no idea what brands they do. Cheers for that link Aaron (y)

No worries mate, glad I could help, I've used them for years as they used to be called Delco Freedom don't know why they changed the name, but stick your post code in the finder thing on the Delphi site, I know that when I did it at least 6 places came up within about 10miles from my house. :D

I had one from Halfrauds in the Mondeo, the calcium own-brand one with the 4 year guarantee. Can't recall what I paid for it, but probably in the 50 to 60 mark.

BUT when I sold the car a few months back, which had been sitting on driveway for months, battery was fooked and wouldn't hold its charge. Took it back with the receipt, and got a free replacement, no quibbles, no questions asked. Nice :)

****, i've just realised that I think I threw away my receipt:( oh well! If it lasts three years, i'll be happy!lol

The Cinq one that Halfords sell is ideal if you have a strut brace because it's tall and thin. I had to really force my Bosch one right back to get the brace back on

Delphi is OE in Vauxhalls and many others as Aaron says.

I've got an Exide which I rate highly, it was in the car when I bought it, previous owner put it in cos short runs killed the standard one. Always bought Exide in the past and recommended them as they always worked well for me.

You might as well buy a good battery, fit it and forget about it as the cheapo's might need changing in a year or two so it's kinda negative economy.

The battery that I got from Fiat is a 'Magneti Marrelli' one, does that sound like a Delphi one?

It could be, Magneti Marrelli are a big company. but on closer inspection a lot of there parts are sourced from else where as they are marked made for M.M. by such'n'such, but this is standard practice for many big companies to outsource to smaller companies to get stuff made to their requirments, but all in, you've got a decent battery that should give a good few years trouble free starting. :D

Aaron.

wish i read this earlier i went to my local motor factors this mo they told me £51 and i just laughed at him (at the mo ive wedged 1 off an old mk4 rs turbo escort but it needed returning on sat) so i bought the same battery for £21 quid and wedgedit back in
