I have a problem with my 97 Brava 1.6sx. When driving the car through town changing the gears a lot the engine seems very jerky, especially at low speeds and after being started. there seems to be no problem at motorway speeds or when accelerating. Just wondering if it could be the lamda sensor.

Sounds Like it

It does sound like the Lambda sensor - I had exactly the same symptoms on an Alfa recently. If you change the lambda and its still the same, you will need to change the temperature sender unit as well. Lambdas are about £90 & the temp send unit is about £30. Best to invest £30 an a diagnostic check at the main dealer it will show up straight away if thats the problem.

Good luck

Air Filter

Check your air filter, spark plugs and fuel filter, they may be dirty that cause the jerked.

TQ.

airfilter,spark plugs etc

I don't think that it is a problem with these as the car had a major service at a fiat dealer about 1 1/2 months ago.
