Knocking!

Have knocking nise coming from the front of my bravo dont know exactly where. Car is R reg and done 85000 miles. Had 17" recently put on (not lowered), dont know if this could have caused anything. Any ideas???

CV joint or crap in your gear box seems to be the general concensus on the knocking matters. More details would be nice. Is it related to engine or road speed, does it stay when clutch is in, does it stop under braking/accelerating/cruising conditions etc...

Cant hear it when i am accelertaing but when i take my foot of then i can hear it!!

CV joint then, sounds like the same as mine did, mine was the drivers side outer joint just behind the wheel. Not that expencive, i'd take it to a garage for a second opinion but that's what it sounds like to me.

I had a similar knocking noise but unfortunately it wasnt my CV joints - it was my gearbox.

Jack up the car and spin the wheels listening for the knocking sound. If its coming from near the wheel it will prob be a CV joint. If its coming from the centre it could poss be your gearbox. Jack up the otherside and do the same. If the knocking happens in the centre when doing both wheels - start searching for a gearbox
