My1.4 bravo s has a really unhealthy knocking sound to the engine. Looking at some of the service history i got with the car it shows that the camshaft has been replaced. Could the noise have anything to do with this or the cambelt?
Thanks

Could be a range of things. Does the knocking increase in frequency as the revs increase? One possibility is that a cheap cam shaft was fitted and the lobes have deteriorated such that they are no longer the correct shape and valve timings are therefore affected. Not too sure about the layout of the engine but on some engines you can put your finger through the oil filler cap and check the lobes for wear, with the engine stopped of course.

Re: Re: Knocking

the knocking is only really heard when the car is ticking over. the camshaft was fitted by a fiat dealer. It might just be me being paranoid but thanks for for the help, it'll probably collapse on me when i take a long drive!
