Hi all. I think I have trouble again... Not engine related so far. Will 100% confirm when I buy the MotoRad Thermostat which is soon.

I have noticed that when I go over a sleeping policeman and in a pot hole or something in the road which makes the car bouncy I hear this knocking noise which is coming from the front wheels. Do not know if it the drivers side or the passengers side. What has gone now?

I have checked the engine mount and it really down since the last time I saw it. I have replaced the mount as a few months ago as the mounting was shot and had the engine falling from one side... Could be the mount is not good? I bought it new!

Thanks.

Was it the gearbox mount/rear engine mount you replaced? It's unlikely to be that. That will usually show wear as you pull off or change in the lower gears.

Knocking from the front is usually either a worn top mount (jack one front wheel at a time up, have someone watch the top of the strut while you lever on the wheel -- any relative movement between the strut top and the wing and the mount needs replacing) or a worn set of wishbone mounts.

It was the engine mount which I changed. The one which there is on the drivers side. One other thing which I am noticing too which I forgot to add is that when I turn the steering its making a squeezing noise.

Ok ok. Will check them both out. Are they expensive? Shall I buy them original or you know guys know a good and cheap make? Will upload a photo of the mounting to show you how low it is...

So if I replace the structs there will be no more knocking when the car sort of bounce?

try shop4parts.co.uk the link is usually on top of this page,
or that internet auction site, cant remember what its called
i have been shocked for the good and bad when i have phoned fiat themselves.worth a try you never know

They come as seperate from the struts, so, if you were to replace the struts, you'd still have to replace the top mounts.

You have to remove the struts to replace the top mounts: the guide here is particularly good.

Guys, you are the best! Will check it out soon as its getting on my nerves! This week the pay comes in and go directly to the mechanic on Saturday and replace them!

Thanks for the diagram! Really helped to understand what needs to be done.

So did it help? I have the similar problem with my bravo, so would like to know where to check for the problem. Actually mine knocks on the drivers side when I leave a car for a longer time (few days or a week) and start moving. Just one meter later a huge knock dongs.
