Had a nice suprise in town today.

Parked up the Bravo and came back to it half an hour later to find that it has been keyed along the top of the passenger wing. Why do people feel the need to do this to other peoples property? I hadn't pissed off anyone, I was legally parked in a designated space, the car was out the way of foot paths, but yet someone decided to vandalise my car. This is the third car i have had keyed for no reason. The first was my Ibiza. that was all the way to the metal. that was done in Preston town centre. The next was our saxo. that got done the full length of the side, this was on an Asda car park. Luckilly it never went to the metal and 95% of it polished out. The stilo never got to touched. why is it every red car i have is vandalised (the stilo was black.)

This looks like the saxo as most of the damage went on cleaning the area and a gentle rub, and the remaining scratches dont look like they have gone through the paint, so could be repairable with cutting and polishing. Got someone looking at it now who used to do this sort of repair at a valeters.

Question is, is lenticular paint hard to spray up again and if it doesnt polish out is it worth claiming on insurance if my XS is £250?

hi,its just a basecoat and lacquer job, only difference is theres a light flakes/pearls in the paint mix.Same cost as for painting any wing, expect £75-£100.

Hope this helps a little (y)

there are some complete Ankers in this world. When i had my Alfa, in the first week somebody opened a door into putting a massive dent in the back door. Really bug's me stuff like that.

good luck getting it fixed.

I had my car keyed about 18 months ago it was definently late at night because i had done a quick change over shift I had finished a 2 - 10 and was back in the next morning on 6 - 2.

Never noticed it until I had got to work about 1/4 passed 5 in the morning I was livid i kicked a wheely bin over at work with temper.

Just pisses me off how theese idiots have got no respect for any ones property I would never even contiemplate doing that to some ones property. Cost me £300 to get the side of the car resprayed they had gone along the whole side of the car.

Will a respray effect your paint warranty?

There is an estate here in East Anglia where welfare services won't visit at night without a police escort. Once an ambulance was called to a house and while the crew were inside discovering it was a hoax call all the wheels were stolen. Other services won't visit at night without a police presence.

We are collapsing as a society and the government keeps throwing our money at the perpetrators. So it will get worse.

It won't be too long before Mad Max is fly on the wall documentary: and don't think I am joking.

Sorry about your car, but I was in a traffic light queue the other morning and I noticed both cars either side of me had been keyed too. Living here is just so depressing sometimes.

And look at the House of Lords: they are rotten with corruption as well, and nothing will be done

Yeah, I feel for you guys as I was plagued too . Some stupid idiot keyed the whole left side of my Bravo from the front to the rear :bang:. Even if I knew it won't help to catch that bastard, I called police in order to get protocol for an unknown crime offense. Based on this protocol an insurance agent approved the repainting of the whole left side to be covered by my insurance. The insurance event lasts four years so I do not need to hurry with complete repair, I feel sorry for my almost new Bravo to be dismantled (both doors) for repainting. So, a very skilled lacquerer did polish the scratches as a temporary solution and thanks to Bravo's ivory color, it is not so visible. But honestly should I have caught that idiot in the act, I would kill him definitely.

Just got in from 3 hours of cutting and polishing in 1deg C, using warm water to heat the paint and i have got every mark out so from 1ft away you cant see a thing. There is still one blemish going up on the pillar that looks like bad laquer if your 4" away from it.

Cant believe how lucky i was it was only laquer damage as the bits thats didnt rub out without polishing (even they left a slight mark) where white and looking like a base coat showing through.

This is what i used to get the marks out

2 kettles of hot water to heat the paint
T-cut for metallic paints
Autoglym car polish
Elbow grease.

First of all i cleaned the wing of the road muck and film and dried it off. I then used a kettle of hot water poured slowly over the area i was starting with first to heat the paint, and heat the metal to keep the paint warm. I then dried it off and went for it using the T-cut, focussing only on the area it was marked, and moving circular quickly to get heat into the cutter. Had to do this a few times to get the scratches out over the top of the wing and up towards the a pillar. Once satisified and not needing to cut anymore, i spent about 10 minutes polishing the whole top of the wing to get rid of cutting marks, then buffed it up. There is not a single mark on that wing now and its looks brand new.

Now i need to clean the rest of the car to match it but its too cold

I share your woes and I worry too about my Bravo for this when I get it in 7 weeks time. :(

I had a similar thing with my current car the first week I had it, parked up and popped in a mates and when I came back to the car 1 1/2 hours later some swine had ripped off my wing mirror on the passengers side leaving it just hanging there by the cables - you could even see their footprint on the door where they had braced themselves to do it!!! Parked legally and that side was facing the pavement too. Only thing I could put it down to was sheer jealousy as it was a new car - Not like it's even flash though, we are talking about a black Mitsubishi Colt diesel. :(
