When i purchased the stilo i was only given 1 key due to the second being lost, how do i get a new key reprogrammed for my car without going to dealer, i have purchased a key and getting a new blank made at my local keyfacts.

cheers john

don't think you can do this without a dealer (and even with the dealer's help.. you would only be able to register the remote.. the key itself had to have been created with a pre-programmed immobiliser chip.. just cutting the shape may allow you to open the doors.. but not start the car..)

Why do people sell the blue keyfob and blade blank if you cant use it or reprogram it to your car which i might add is what i have purchased. Fiat want around £300 inc vat keyfax is £265 +vat so around the same.

because people buy them.. (either due to not knowing.. or because they have the blade from a broken key and need to replace the surround/remote) i may be wrong and it might be possible to code the chip inside the key (i don't know much about the electronic systems) wait for second opinion dude

The good news is.. the chip itself is not inside the blade.. it sits in a small glass tube attached via a plastic clip to the fob (inside the surround next to the blade) thus it might be possible to order just the chip (or, since your current remote does not work) you can move your chip from the broken key to the new one

They sell the blue key fob for people who have cracked or damaged their original casing, they can just swop the immobiliser chip and remote control CB over, the blade if they want to and they can have a fully functioning key fob again

If the new blue key fob is supplied with an acceptable immobiliser chip inside then you can go to a Fiat dealer and with the original key fob, log book, some proof of identity, they should be able to program your car to accept the different immobiliser chip ( you can have up to 4 fobs i beleive) but they will need to obtain the code number for your car to program the fobs if you don't have it

The remote locking is a different system again and depends whether your new blue key has a working remote CB inside like the one above. If it does then again Fiat should be able to program your car's remote locking to accept the different fob
