General Stilo key no longer remotely opening the doors

Hiya,

New to the forum & love my 2006 Stilo!

But the key suddenly stopped remotely opening the doors I can open them with the one (blue) key that I have but would much prefer to zap the car if poss. Any thoughts?

Simplest thought would be the battery in the key?

Strangely, my Panda is still using its original battery, at nearly 16 years old, yet my Fabia needed a new battery recently, at just 6½ years old.

Is the battery easy to change?

Mine has just stopped working but it's the original 2004 factory battery so I'm confident it has finally died and the problem is not a remote c/locking issue instead...

I saw a Guide about refurbishing the battery case but I can't work out whether the battery can be swapped just by unlocking the case and opening the tab, or whether I need to remove the Fiat badge, and undo the screw underneath to separate the two halves.

Does anyone knoe what the battery type is, so I can buy one in advance?

Assuming it's the old style key, flip the blade out and there's a quarter turn screw in the blade recess. Turn the screw then hinge the battery carrier out.

If it's the new style key, remove the battery cover to reveal the battery.

Both versions use a CR2032 battery.

Nice one! Mine looks like the one with the "hinge"... although I never tried unlocking the screw.

CR2032 sounds familiar.. I think The Sith has one in her bath thermometer, so there's a spare one from a twin-pack somewhere..
