my missis took my punto to work today she works for free at a charity place selling furniture, whilst she was unloading a van a thief went in the place and stole her coat, in the coat was my key and her key for the punto! don't ask me why she had both its a woman thing.
Any way we have the red key she rang fiat, again don't ask me why, Fiat man said you can use the red key 1500 times !!??!!. I can get a clone off the red key but if you can only use the red 1500 times and the clone will be an exact copy of the red key i am thinking it will be the same for the clone.
What do you reckon.

When I had my Brava, FIATs told me that the Red Master Key should only be used to print spare keys from and in case of emergencies.

It is not an everyday key and has a limited life span in normal use due to the chip. 1500, not sure about that figure but what you've basically been told sounds correct.

ive emailed fiat but have not yet got a reply. my missis phoned them but they said there was no one there to help until monday.

no reply to email from fiat yet, my missis phoned fiat customer services again to-day she was told they were short staffed and there was no one to answer her question.
key light is now comming on and going off when i am driving along.
getting clone of red key anyway because i am worried about loosing the red one.

mr minit will copy red keys. if the copy runs out ehat the hell! really cheap

ive got clones off the red key done, tried 3 shops 2 had no blanks but said they could order them the third had the blanks i sent the missis got 2 keys cloned only one worked, the man said come back tomorow and he would try again she went back and got 2 working keys and said that he had reprogramed the red key, i hope she got that wrong as he may have messed up the red key. I now have 3 working keys they are all red.
BTW, all 3 shops said they were the only ones that cloned keys.

As far as i am aware the red key doesnt have a limited use factor (ie's 1500 times) but every Fiat dealer will tell you not to use it and keep it in a safe place.

You can get locksmiths to clone both the red and blue keys but if you lose all your keys then it becomes quite expensive.

To get a new red key requires replacement of :
Engine ECU
CODE (Imobiliser) ECU
Complete lock & key set

Parts alone will set you back in the region of £450 !!

finaly got a reply from fiat to day they must have saved all the work for bank holiday so they get double payB)

With regards to the amount of times you can use the red key, There are not a specific number of times the key can be used, however if your are experiencing problems I would suggest that you contact your local Fiat dealership.

I sent them a reply saying i can't trust my dealer as they told me you can only use it 1500 times.
