I have a 1242 mpi engine from a punto 75 in my y10 project. Most of the mechanical jobs have been done and it is just odd bits needing doing.

One of the jobs that I thought out be straight forward was a nice induction kit. I ordered a K&N 57i kit which mounts where the old air box was. The problem is that I now can't close the bonnet  and not by a small amount either.

So off down to B&Q to by some 100mm aluminium flexi duct so that filter could be mounted down the side of the engine next to the timing belt. Kind of worked but the flexi duct gets crushed when I close the bonnet.

Anyone got something else I can try HELP!!!!

black bit is the bob

Bob purchased and installed (thanks Eklipze3k for spotting it in the classifieds and Dave for selling it to me)

Just need to get some nice silicon hose to join it all together. Will post some pics once it is finished.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks Eklipze3k

Did have a look at Silicon Hoses website a couple of weeks back. Originally the cunning plan was to get a nice off the shelf induction kit that would save all this messing about fabricating stuff but where is the fun in that!!!

Progress at last

Very quick service from Silicon Hoses. Top stuff.

Still need to finish it but at least the bonnet closes now :)

Would have been cheaper getting a GSR kit but were is the fun in that.

Well, you could have come down to GSR and could have had some fun making your own induction hose. I wonder whther any other manufacturer of silcone hoses would offer this much fun?

BTW, I am serious.

I take it you are mr gsr??

From all the good things that i have read about gsr kits i will certainly be looking at these kits if one is needed in the future.

cheers

Dave

Go down your local scrap yards and look for 899cc Cinquecento.

They have them as standard due to a different air intake system.

should be about a fiver.

do make sure to get the seal too.

they're ok to an extent, but the port into the bob is a little restrictive. Some of the Cento guys have made differnet alternatives. i.e cut two in half and bond them together, or produce one from SS/aluminium. One guy even produced a silicone alternative that seemd to work well.

Which engine are you looking to fit one to?
