I hope you went to see the car before you made your bid.

NO

Ebay is a notorious dumping ground for duff cars.

Yep

That said they aren't all bad, but I know a few people who have been stung, like my brother, but then who would buy a car without seeing it?

ME! :D

Ive driven about 5 cars of this model and vintage in the last two weeks to try to make sure.

I have spoken to the guy at length and had a full RAC inspection done though. If when I get there it has something wrong ill not hand over the cash. Simple - however after a comprehensive check by the RAC and a lot of time talking to the seller who seems as genuine and honest as you could hope im confident everything will be fine.

I was going to wait to show pics of the car once id wax and polished it and got the claws on.
Im also popping a multichanger in once I get home (easy to fit?). Also I probably would have taken the pics as the sun is low in the sky, often giving you a more dramatic picture and showing the paint off better! ;)

CDC is relatively easy to fit :)

One bit of advice - to pull out the NAV+ to enable rear connection, use coat hangers in the holes, lol. Then change glovebox liner, insert code into system and away you go.

sorry i posted pic before you waxes it but now we can see before and after :)

sure there might be bad cars on ebay but they cant all be, ive bought a few off ebay and so far god god cars for the money i paid, have also sold cars on there that were good :)
reading thread on forums you can get unlucky with buying a car from anywhere, i am sure you will have a good one.

Should be cool, an RAC check should be better than going to see it yourself.

Sorry, I'm another 5 door hater, but each to their own. There are plenty of people who drive cars that I wouldn't and I'm sure most of them are more than happy with their cars.

Id say that 5 door hating is more than a little harsh.

You have to contrast against my other car

in reality the three door isnt going to compare in my eyes to my MX-5. Where the 3 door does better the mazda, the 5 door betters the 3 door in those fields.

Ive always had a thing for Italian cars and im more than happy with my new purchase (as long as its as good in the flesh ;) )

Also with the propect of children on the horizon, the 5 door wins hands down.

Yep, I have three kids aged nearly 4,5 and 6. My previous car was a 5 door and they were constant fiddling with everything, opening windows, etc. which is why I decided to look at 3 door vehicles.

I appreciate what you are saying about the comparison to the MX-5, but if I had bought a 5 door vehicle it wouldn't have been a Stilo, because I don't like the 5 door Stilo. It's not something that 5 door owners should take offence at, plenty of people do like them, I'm just not one of them.

P.S. I don't like MX-5's either, but taste is a very personal thing, I'm sure there are other cars we would agree on.

The Ulysse has 5 doors, but a child switch enables you to lock all the windows and doors and stop them playing in the back ;)

The 5 door Stilo was the comprimise for me, even though I prefer the 3 door for looks - meant I could still have fun in a 'hot hatch', but also makes it easier when I constantly swap car seats [I have an 18 m/o and a 3y/o] - plus the boot is bigger for buggies.

Still, at least I bought another Fiat.....aargh.......................:)

know exactly what you mean geez ,got a 2 year old and a 10 week old and a 13 year old step son,got a 5 door stilo and its wat 2 small ,nice hatch back but i reckon my next car will be either a multipla ort a ulluyse if i can afford it,sometimes you have to sacrifice stlilo for practicality

You can pick up Ulysses really cheap on the second hand market - just make sure you go for the diesel for better economy! Ours is also Angel tuned up to about 165bhp :)

Im just really happy with the deal ive got and looking forward to getting it on Wednesday. :)

As for not being big enough, we havent actually got the kids yet and my wife already has a Kia mpv. (she does 4k miles a year).

This car for me is to drive to work and do all the other nipping about. Also we will pobably use it for long journey's to the wifes family etc. (being a diesel)

I cant understand people not likeing the mx-5 or the 5 door Stilo - BUT thats a good thing. If we all liked the same things the world would be a pretty boring place.
We would all be driving Foci or Golfs and nobody would be an individual.

Just a quick note: if you have never driven an MX-5 do so. Then come down to Essex and drive my properly set up one - true driving enthusiasts will find it sublime!
If you see an mx-5 with 17"+ wheels or massively lowered you know thay have ruined the way it drives. Mine see's 60 in under 6 seconds (and ive a modest power set up), and handles like you wouldnt believe. Little kids shout "nice car mister" as I drive past. :D

For me I was looking for a hatchback that was really economical, and had a slightly sporty feel with a different look to all the Foci/golf/astra etc. As I said, Italian cars have always seemed to have something ive always liked.

I was looking at 3 dors before, then the other day I went out with my mate and his 2 month old in his 3 door Focus.
Bit of a nightmare -Basically he loves the focus but will defiantely be getting a 5 door something next time.

Ive just got a quote from Tesco Insurance for fully comp etc my wife and i insured for £270! :D
Im 31 full NCB and no convctions etc. No garage.
Sounds good to me.

To be honest my dislike for MX-5's is nothing compared to the passionate loathing of the 5 door Stilo. I drove a mates MX-5 about 10 years ago and he took my Calibra for a spin. The MX-5 was full of character compared to my Calibra, but I was always irritated by the similarity to the Lotus Elan, which I much preferred, despite the usual Lotus flaws.

It's funny because most people who criticise the 5 door mention it looking too Germanic, but I think the side profile of the 3 door is not dissimilar to the Audi A3.

Yeah - they actually were trying to emulate the classic british sports car and mnay of my mx-5 mates had an Elan at some tim eor another. However most like driving the MX-5 instead of fixing the Elan! :D

As for my New Stilo, im well pleased and im sure its just what I wanted.

I think we have a good taste in cars Roadsterchinsk..
I was going to get an MX-5 before I got the stilo..But to own one of those I would have had to get a second Cheaper car, because for some reason the kids just would not fit in the back of the mazda no matter how hard I pushed them ;) Maybe next year I will buy an MX-5 to sit alongside the Abarth just for me and the Mrs when all the kids are at school.
