Can't forget it because its written above.
It was the 'Trader Rating' on your posts that made me think you are a Trader.
If it means something else then I have misunderstood and apologise.

But, seriously, if this remap is as good as claimed, I really cannot see why the big fleet operators and vehicle manufacturers don't take it up? It would be worth a fortune to them.

Hi All. Interesting thread. I would aggree with fFoxy 's coments and just add that I had a re-map done on my Fiat 2.8 2004 Campervan. I was told to expect some mpg improvement BUT as I had opted for a 'balanced' i.e power/mpg and Not performance. I was also offered a guarantee after a trial period - full money back plus return to original spec. I can tell you guys that I got a small 10% improvement on mpg. But even if I had got a fat zero I would not have gone back to them for a refund. Why ? The van is a pleasure to drive, pulling power in the gears is great improvement alone (mine is an automatic) Also the engine is quieter as I do not need to 'gun it' away from standstill. I drive at the same speeds as before but more effortlessly. I cannot praise it enough. As has already been said - most engines, and surely all LCV's, are de-tuned for for a longer life at the hands of your average 'white van man'. Fleet operators know their drivers and proberly opt not to do a remap for that reason alone. Regards, Mike

Many commercial drivers these days are paid a fuel consumption bonus. I can understand why some fleet owners might want to reduce power output to save fuel and wear, but not if it increases fuel consumption by 10%!!
But I can see no reason why they would 'de tune' the ones they supply specifically for motorhomes, since probably a greater proportion of motorhomes than cars will be owner driven.
So it still doesn't explain why no manufacturers or recognised fleet owners will take this up.

Perhaps I should have said that most LCV are tuned below the optimum. However, I also did not imply that Fleet operators de-tuned their vehicles. Seems like you like to put a different spin on all that anybody has to say on this topic. I have a 'regular' Ducato panelvan conversion - you might note I refered to a campervan as oposed to a Motorhome. However, it makes no difference they all come with the same power outputs for the respective engines.
Just a thought ; Someone once said " There are none so blind as those who don't want to see & none so deaf as those who don't want to hear" ;)

I have a tuning box on my multipla since august. 30 bhp more and more mpg
Car pulls better in every gear and mpg is now 43 mpg in mostly short journey...on motorway i get 60mpg!!! Try it instead of criticise it...
 
I have a 2007 Fiat Ducato 160bhp (3.00 ltr). I travel all over the UK & Europe and spend approx £700 per month on diesel. About a year ago had a plug & play from Cxxp Exxxxxx which cost £350. Since then bhp has risen to 190 and the normal 30mpg is now averaging 43mpg at a steady 60mph loaded. It has paid for itself within a few months. There is less changing down gear. The only downside is that when the van is empty (unloaded) it does tend to spin the front wheels at times. I am posting this from my own experience with no connection to any tuning company
 
Just by using the onboard computer giving average mpg. using a full tank before chip was fitted then doing the same after chip fitted. You can definately see the difference.
 
What an interesting thread...

As a courier (owner driver) who spends an average of £800 per month on diesel, I'm looking into chipping my van.

And, as I know and deal with many other couriers, some with large fleets, I know the preference is limiting the van to 70mph. Any mention of power gains would not interest them, in fact, it would put them off...

So can anyone really recommend someone in SE Wales who can do my van?

also we are talking about remaps not chipping

As pointed out by JipO, the preference is limiting to 70mph as this is usually done by the main dealer on supply of the vehicle from new.
