Technical Jtd tuning

Its quite noticeable on here if some of you dont know about or understand something you tend to try and take the pee. If I want to go tearing about I would use the Stilo but if I wanted to go really slow I would buy a 1.6 or unplug the chip but it would still be faster than a 115bhp

we unde4rstand more than you think mate;)

1.6 is a lot of slower than 1.9JTD. I have at home both. 1.6 16V 2003 and 1.9JTD 2004 and on highway 1.6 accelerate a lot of slower then JTD(original map)... Now when I have remaped it is diference much bigger...

Re: how to tune up my stilo jtd

You can stick a bigger turbo on it that would gain quite a bit more power with the Remap and get a proper Induction kit.
What sort of budget are we looking at.

Re: how to tune up my stilo jtd

FFS some people want to make the car go faster out of interest/Hobby/love for their car so telling people to buy a new car just isnt appropriate.
If people dont know how to tune a car then just say nothing at all.
Sorry Rant over.

Well this is car Forum and it's basically about giving people advice.

You might not like what I suggest but it generally cuts through the emotion to the root of an issue - and it could easily save the OP a bundle of dosh too.

Re: how to tune up my stilo jtd

So whats wrong with the usual cams, decat pipe, better exhaust, Uprated manifold, Induction Kit, port & polish, bore, pistons, bigger turbo. These are just a couple of things that i know of and if done properly (It may not be cheap) will all make the car faster.
Im sorry for ranting a bit but what you are doing is not helping anybody. Especially when you come to that conclusion before even asking for a budget.

Re: how to tune up my stilo jtd

For anyone who knows anything about JTD's then the 1st choice for a performance gain is a remap - quite simply nothing else even comes close.

Why on earth don't you let the OP get a chance to post what he really wants - for all we know he might not have the money for a remap let alone anything else

If he really does suggest 'money is no object' then you can advise him to your hearts content - and I certainly wont be objecting :)

Re: how to tune up my stilo jtd

so wat about these tuning chips that are on ebay???? are they any good, the ones for £100:slayer:
Most are rubbish and some are even dangerous to the engine (those that increase fuel pressure).

Best save up £199 for a visit to Red Dot or a bit more for some of the other mapping companies.

Re: how to tune up my stilo jtd

  • strut braces.
exhaust (this made a huge difference on its own)
    lower stiffer springs
    remap

that lot should be all you need to keep a constant grin on your face whenever some chav gives you the look............because in a Stilo with the above, you'll end up with a wink and lusty look from his Mrs too :slayer:
