Technical JTD engine replacement saga!

Re: JTD - Now my replacement engine has died!!!

Sorry, got confused by your pictures and thought two cylinders were in the same state but now realize only one cylinder is damaged.

Something mighty weird has happened there

What does the supplier of the engine say about all this?

Nothing it only had a 1 month warranty. Just the luck of the draw I guess! :(

The top half of the valve is fine it has just snapped at the end. Any ideas on where to source a piston from bar fiat? Need to keep the cost real low to warrant trying again.

Re: JTD - Now my replacement engine has died!!!

Sorry to say but the block will be unsalvageable. Crank, conrod, and shells will all be damaged because the valve will have stopped the piston hitting TDC by quite a distance. The cylinder bore will be badly damaged, probably too deep for even a rebore. Even if it can have a rebore you will need oversized piston rings.

Turn the crank to move that piston down and you will see that bore is damaged.

I am sad to say the stilo has now gone for an abysmal amount. I am kind of happy and gutted at the same time. I was getting into the price where i could just go buy another if i put more into it.

hopefully the new owner will have more luck than me.

Thanks for all the help and comments over the years.
