Punto (Mk2/2b) Joshhh Mk2b Punto "Project".

Introduction

Hello FiatForum!
Just thought start this project thread so you guys can see what im doing to my car and to gain some feedback on what i should/shouldn't do.
So to start off, i brought this baby about 3 months ago (Jan 2012). So after recovering from the crippling deposit for insurance, i can finally start to mod my car out (y)

When i brought it, there was some noticable damage to the rear bumper and the driver's side rear quater panel, where someone had hit it and it had been poorly repaired (Shoddy paintjob, so lots of rust. Fantastic.

)

So first off, i got it home and gave it a good clean out, where i found a boots loyality card and a drumstick lolly.

So once i had it all cleaned up, there was a niggling problem, THOSE TRIMS.

Yeah i know they are standard, or "stock" but Look at them! I truely hated them with a passion.

So, got myself over to halfords and brought some High Enamal Matte Black Paint for pretty cheap and then brought some Trims from eBay for £30

So, SOOOO much better. Then, shortly after i brought some things online.

Added some stickers here and there:

So i sat there, looking at my car, admiring my work so far, and then i noticed those "Active" badges under the side repeaters. They had to go.

So got some fishing wire and some WD40 (And a hairdryer) and removed those.

BOOM.

Then i got a bit too happy with how easy that was and removed "Punto" from the back. (Yes i know, i deserve a smack from every FF user

)

So, thats my car's story so far, the plans ive got are:

- Flyeye tint the Rear lights
- Change headlight colours
- Sportex Exhaust System (Current one sounds like a rusty fart)

So please, feel free on commenting about my car, or what you think i should do

When I first saw the stuff on your bonnet it looked like you were fitting a bonnet vent  thankfully i was mistaken (y)

Good progress mate, especially now the car is running and all :p.

Ah awesome, cheers very much (y)
And I think when the Flyeye site is back open (I think they're on holiday or something...) I'll be ordering a kit for my car... might as well give it a bash! :D Why did yours need re-doing?

More than likely, the company gets through about a mile of the stuff a day
and i had to redo them because the heat got to one side i didn't do properly, it looked fine, but i knew it was there

HI Joshhh i see you have fitted a new front bumper, did you weld the outside grilles on the back of the bumper where they go through the captive fittings?
factory ones are welded here but when you replace with aftermarket copies you think they clip in tight but with the bumper flexing over time they pop out or get stolen
a neat self tapper drilled from the front is just as effective if you dont want to get under:)

looking good

:)

Cheers for that bud, i think i know what you mean, there's a riveted piece of sheet steel behind that, so i hope that won't pop out (y)

Oh common Scott  You actually think i would do such a thing! :(;)
and taa bud, cars all happy now, just still saving fo' dem' coilies.

Finally got round to whackin' the badgeless grill on (y)

Here's my car sitting at the Train Station car park, poor thing.

Poor pictures i know, but it was getting dark when i mounted it, so i took these at 5am. On a blackberry (n):bang:
I'll get some better pictures up when i get back (y)

Looking good dude, now just sort out the monstertruck ride height and its well on its way

Cheers bud (y) and you don't understand how much i agree with you on the height. This car escaped Download Fest, managed to get out of the mud were a Focus RS got stuck.

Still, get that exhaust on, then hopefull, Coilovers (y)

Best part of having a Fiat lol in the winter i can go anywhere, pretty much, where i work is at bottom of huge hill when it snows its more or less a car park for german saloons lol dont think ive been stuck once.

Wouldn't think it would you? (y)
Also, is wiring up and Engine Start Button difficult Deekstar? I'm ****scared of blowing something important. You seem to know a fair bit about Car Electrics (y)

Remember taking my Punto up a steep hill with 2 inches of snow over it. She made it, but it was a ****-scary experience!

And I know question wasn't aimed at me, but I've done one as well... engine push button isn't too hard at all. Put mine in within an hour or so. There's a great guide for it here [ https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-guides/250488-how-install-engine-push-start-button.html ] and my comments here [ https://www.fiatforum.com/punto-ii/300754-ideas-more-mods.html Posts #4 and #6] explain a slightly different way of doing it that lets you hide it inside the switch rail.

Damn, nice driving there bud!

And oh thank you! I've read it a while back, but its all different now i'm about to do it
A Hour or so for you, 2 weeks for me im guessing (y)
Cheers once again!

So yeah, i said i'd take a better photo, i had a play with PhotoShop and got this: :chin:

Alright Chaps :D
Decided to show my car a bit of love (Proberly the most amount of affection its ever had (y)
I spent nearly all of the day, cleaning, shampoo'ing, cleaning all the interior, the engine bay. Then went and T-cut the whole car (Such a good product (y) ) Waxed up. Back to black'ed the tyres. EVERYTHING. Spent around 5-7 hours on it. Worth every second. (These are not photoshopped in anyway.)

Then, thanks to @ormo, he gave me the idea of getting rid of that p*ss poor excuse for a light:

So the plan was to replace that, with 2 LED strips (The ones i chose are Monster Green (y))
DSC004533.JPG

Ill post a link to them later (y)

Didn't forget to disconnect the battery first!

Hmm, i cleaned that 2 days ago. :bang:

Won't bore you guys with the method and what-not, there's guides on this already (y) So, after a bit of nip and tuck here and there:

Sorry about the pretty gay arm pose i've got going there.
Considering i took these about 1pm, so obviously they aren't going to be dead bright. Ill take some more later when its a bit darker (y)
Laters!

Nice pics although i would never use t-cut anywhere near my car,Autoglym's super resin polish can do a much better job and is alot safer on paintwork.

How about de-wipering the back (24mm grommet i think ) and tinting the side repeaters ?

I needed to get all the panels/bumpers to look kinda the same, but i understand what you mean (y)
I was talking about de-wipering the back today infact with a lad from work who has a Grande. Tomorrow whilst i get the exhaust on, ill quickly measure up and ill order one, if i can find somewhere that does them (y) (Thinking about it, i could just order a 24mm Flesh Tunnel you see your local Greebs with and just cut it in half? :chin: and the side repeaters are a complete Ball Ache, i can't Fly Eye them, so i'll have to take them off and spray them with E-Tech, but cheers for the ideas bud! (y)
Also, how did you get that Signature of your mk2b? Did you make it yourself or did you use a website to generate it?

Yer a good choice all round. What colour you thinking of powder coating the alloys? I nearly bought the FK AK Coilovers until i got give the offer to swap for 50mm springs. That amount drop will look cool i wouldn't go much lower than that though.

Colour? Erm, White, maybe bright Green? I'm not too sure yet bud (n) and ahh, im not sure, Coilovers are adjustable, so ill just adjust it till i find the size im happiest with (y)

How's about some Coupe Turbo wheels, some rubber band tyres, then sit it on it's arse? (y)
Baha, They maybe slightly too big for the Punto :(

*UPDATE*
So, it's got dark and i took some photos. (My Camera F*CKING HATES TAKING PHOTOS IN THE DARK)
