The biggest problem with 6k rpm launches in my Scooby was that the revs don't dip from 6k at all when you dump the clutch and the car will be off and you'll be bouncing straight off the rev limiter! Clutch smells a little bit afterwards too :ROFLMAO:

Here we go - few more photos taken this morning. These are an outlying car park where I work. The third one was taken on the way in -- I couldn't resit the irony of the slippery road sign obscured by snow! The BBC published this on the BBC London website earlier today - its about number 13 in the set here (but moves along each time a new one comes in at the front)

Yeah first gear isn't particularly tall on Scoobies is it. I remember the first time I drove the wifes Subaru in a nice big car park and floored it in first and seemingly instantly I was almost at the redline. oops!!!!!

Well I did some nice donuts today in some nice deep snow. Was absofrickinglutely amazingly fun to do :)

You could have put your camera on the pavement and filmed it for us.
Do it again!
Sadly I have a DSLR so no video :(

Will try to upload a few more photos a bit later but here's a quickie.

I have 'discovered' the Panda loves doing handbrake turns on the slippery stuff :)

My brother has a BMW 318is. It couldn't move forwards on our road yesterday afternoon - hard packed snow, and its only a slight incline. Once forward motion was established it was OK. RWD is not good without winter tyres!

I have to drive to Oxford on Tuesday morning for a medical. I see we have another big dump coming in Bucks Monday night. Great. Worst thing is that the BUPA hospital I'm going to says I need to give 72 hours notice to cancel or they charge me. If I get there and the doctor hasn't turned up I'll be pi55ed!

Is the "big dump" in Bucks the reason that you need to attend the BUPA hospital, Trefor?;)
I'm sure the hospital will not charge if weather conditions prevent you getting there as long as you explain the situation. If you can't get there, the doctor doing the medical may not be able to either, so ring up before you set off.

Yeah, I'm going to ring them tomorrow to check.

There is nothing wrong with my dumpage thankyouverymuch :D

Here in Hertfordshire the expected Monday night dump has arrived 24hours too soon -- its snowing hard right now (Sunday eve) and already over an inch extra has settled... More Panda 4x4 fun to be had yet...

I'm starting to realise why people put winter tyres on! Went for another drive yesterday this time with the wife in the car and we went onto a gravel road which had a base of ice and then a couple of inches of compacted snow on and boy was it slippery to drive on even having 4wd and keeping the car a gear higher than I ordinarily would have. I think the conditions I was driving in were pretty extreme though and I suspect the conditions were really more suited to studded tyres for decent grip though winter tyres would have helped of course. People will think I'm being slightly melodramatic but the roads were very much like as in the picture below.

Was quite nice to get the chance to drive in conditions like that without having the pressure of having to get to work or having weather closing in, I'm used to driving on gravel but being from Australia I'd never driven on snow or ice till 2007. More weather forecast for tonight! :D Bring it on!
