You'll pretty much have to design and fabricate your own inlet system using the smallest TBs you can get (off a bike) and linkeages to suit. So you'll need to go MPI (Megasquirt). Probably a better fuel pump.

To make it worthwhile you'll probably need a wilder cam than a 866 and a 6 speed box.

An engine swap would probably be easier.
 
No ass kicking required, spot on summary.

The air needs to be moving at a reasonable speed to get the fuel mixed properly. Inlets that are too big means low air speed that means incomplete fuel atomisation.

If the OP had a lumpier cam, they might work better, but an 866 on standard/worn compression is not going to sook enough.
