Girly or not, with todays fuel/tax costs small efficient cars are clearly the future. I don't actually think that it is though. I ran a Seicento sporting in yellow for a while and definitely felt a bit pathetic in that. It is a kind of British snobby thing that you would probably not find in countries such as Italy, Spain & Greece.

Always get what you want, never mind anyone elses opinion. My mates daughter keeps laughing about the 500, but she drives a 1985 Polo breadvan, so what does she know:)

we have several openly gay blokes at work, one says he wouldnt have one because hes Italian and wont buy Italian made cars!!!! Another has just bought a Twingo, says he doesnt like the 500... so its not gay then:)

fiat will have used this colour on all publicity because its the most expensive option unfortunately its a simple marketing ploy not a style choice

If they are producing the Funk White in such small quantities it is hardly a marketing ploy that is going to earn them big profits. Simple economics do not support your argument.

Ummmmm so you say.......I personally doubt it as the italians would'nt give a monkeys about "the most expensive option" its more to do with style!!

all car makers do it they show the most expensive model possible with all the extra's and at the same time publisize the lowest models price, just watch a car tv ad and look at the "model shown" price. fiat will be profiting around £550 per funk white car and i realy do doubt they are actually paying £50 per liter for the paint from there suppliers. the 5 funk's a week will be purely because they only have enough "factory" orders to do that many.

I've a girl and have just ordered a Funk White, but I was going to go for the Ye Ye Green until I saw the Funk White in the flesh so to speak. It is gorgeous and so retro in the white I had to have it. Teaming with Red Leather/Ivory Ambience. They've said end of August for delivery but I'm not convinced. Still with the part-ex deal I negotiated, every day past 30th August they are going to be out of pocket!

They aren't girly, just so great people are jealous so they accuse of being girly!

I am sorry I don't know where you are getting your information from but it is factually incorrect. Fiat have already increased the number of Funk Whites they produce to meet demand, this is why the delivery dates have been moved forward recently. Do you know the cost of the equivalent paint option option on a Maserati, it's almost a £5000.

Also how many people have been put off ordering the colour because of the production delay? In October 2007 dealers where informed by Fiat that deliveries of the Funk White were likely to be completed in December 2008. This is hardly likely to get the punters diving for their cheque books.

Either Fiat have devised the most inept marketing ploy in the history of marketing or you are wrong my friend.

the 5 funk's a week was in responce to another member so wasn't originally posted by me. and maserati will be profiting £4950 on pearly paint ! my info on this is current public trade price of pearl paint fiat WILL be paying much less than this . and do you realy belive fiat don't go to these lengths to sell more expensive options if so you are kidding you'rself.the options list should be called the profits list. eastenders wont have picked the 500 to appear last week they will have been paid for it to be there.via fiat u,k's marketing dept:

So in other words your telling me that by informing buyers there is over a years waiting list is a cunning marketing ploy to increase sales and profit on the Funk white model. This was always surely likely to deter the vast majority of prospective buyers. If this was purely a money spinning enterprise another Funk White production line would surely have been created to cut waiting times and encourage buyers to take up this Fiat derived money making scheme.

From your previous comments in other threads it is clear you have a problem with the Funk Whte colour. You are of course entitled to your opinion as is everybody else. However don't let your loathing of this colour blind you to the plain economic facts.

I could be wrong but thought it was more to do with the paint process, time taken and number of coats rather than price per litre.

The reason Funk white is so expensive is that it is a three layer pearlescent paint as opposed to a standard two layer (base and clear laquer coat) metallic. The two base coats are applied in opposite directions to give the pearlescent effect and it is therefore more labour intensive. Due to this the factory is limited to the number of cars it can paint in this colour each day.

Above quote from isuk from a thread last year.

it is more of a girly shape but its coool and get some accesrories to it to make it abit bolder.if you like it get it:D its a nice car.funky. when i told my mates i was getting a yellow punto...they laughed sayin its a girls color....now all the girls love it just cos its yellow :D. get the 500 if you like it.also dont be put off by what the reviews say about the ride...bugs me when reviewers say stuff like that.at the end of the day its a fiat and it aint been designed to do everything well like ride etc.you only get fanstastic road handling in super cars . i just dont see why people go on about "bad handling"....so whos going to notice? apparently the mk2b punto has body roll according to reviews.:S. its fine for me :)

This thread is really funny!

I had not spotted it 2 days ago when I started asking the same thing - is the 500 too girly... Thanks to many replies I ordered it today and will laugh all the way to the bank when it finally arrives...

Confortable in my own skin, living in a city where average speed is 12mph (yes, even if you own a Marcielago), and coming from Milano where COOL is not the size your car but your manners, your grooming, how well you snowboard and can you surf like a God etc (oh you know that already!), I can't wait to get the little car and show off to the world I made a huge step forward and I've grown up! Bye bye, diesel guzzling BMW, see ya tax man, hallo parking in tight spots in Fulham, hallo buying Fiat accesories to match my shirt (whops - now THAT IS a bit girly, ahahahah!!! Or Italian, I guess... Oh, I'm a walkig stereotype!) :ROFLMAO:

In fact, I only have one HUGE regret: why didn't I think about it a year ago???

How many stickers and ivory gear knobs could have I bought with £3600 paid to the tax man??? :bang::cry::cry::cry:

.... is the 500 too girly? - think original 500. It was a peoples car.

Girly, gay, butch - there is something for EVERYONE. I am thinking Fiat have got it right with the new 500 also. Your choice!
