ipod playing up

right 1st up,completely my fault.
i forgot i had a water bottle in my bag and it leaked on my 60gb ipod 5G

ive stripped it down and it works,some minor screen damage but no biggie really
however the hold button isnt working properly,most annoying.
now if i open the ipod case then the hold button does work or goes flakey with the hold icon appearing and dissapearing.
when i shut the case i get nothing from the hold button.
i should be all dried out.however it probably sat with water in the case for about 15-20 hours

any ideas? hold switch was dusty when i looked at it and TBH didnt look like it had had a lot if any water on it

is a PITA as it really renders it useless for out and about useage but i see they are available to buy as parts

on a plus side for anyone else,ipods are pretty easy to strip down

Theres loads of guides about taking ipods apart

I had to change that whole assembly on my old ipod photo in my car. The hold button/earphone socket. Bought another on ebay for a few quid.

You should be able to do the same if it still doesnt work, theres lots of parts about. The place I bought mine from give you a free plastic opening tool too which has come in very useful.

yeah seen em on ebay.however im Scottish and begrudge paying for anything
as said just go on you tube and search for ipod repair/open etc and get loads of vids
i used a craft knife to open my ipod

now ive totally broken this ipods cherry i may bung rockbox on it for a play too

right well looks like the hold swich unit is dead so i'll replace that
screen has dried out and shows no damage :slayer:

i know theres loads of ipod haters but this ipod 60gb has been used nearly every day
been soaked in the rain many times
dropped a couple of times
i must have had it well over 3 years and its only fault was caused by me
cant complain at that
