Technical Intermittent windscreen wiper problem scudo 2003

The intermittent windscreen wiper action is no longer working on my 2003 Scudo. Both the push down (manual sweep) and the first intermittent setting on the stick (up). The two continual sweeps are working fine. The push down (manual sweep) works if you hold the stalk down but stops immediately you let go. Hope that makes sense. Anyone suffered the same issue or have a solution?

My Fiorino did the same, changed the wipermotor, and all is fine again...!
